I got my bangs chopped about five weeks ago and now I am heading toward another hair appointment and I need to decide if I plan to keep them or if I want to let them grow out. I think that I am planning to keep them shorter than I normally do but I feel like I need more ways to style them. I have been using Katy Perry as one of my style icons all throughout the haircut process and I spent more time looking at pictures of her when trying to decide what I am doing with my hair next.
I don't typically wear my hair curly but I am really liking the way her hair is styled in this picture. I don't think that I would wear my hair curly like she does but I love the look of the hair scarf with the bangs. I have a feeling that this is a wide headband and not an actual scarf so I will need to search some styles like this on Amazon and then make some decisions.
I believe that I will keep my bangs shorter for the time being and then try to style them around this type of hair accessory. I will need to straighten my hair and then style my bangs before putting the hair accessory on and then touch up the whole look. I love the 1920s flapper look of this picture and I want to try a simpler version of it.

Karlie Kloss's Side Part and Bangs
I have had my new bangs for about a month and I have been styling with a center part or by pulling my face framing layers back in a clip. I like styling it in these ways but I am always on the look out for more ways to style my hair. Now that the humidity of the late summer and early fall is over, I am looking for more ways to wear my hair down. Before I but my bangs short, I had often worn my hair with a deep side part and long bangs but I haven't tried my hair in this kind of part with my shorter bangs.
I love this picture of Karlie Kloss because she has her hair styled very close to what I have in mind with my new bangs and a side part. Her hair is much shorter than mine but I am hoping that with a careful straightening and much less humidity I am get mine straight and very smooth.
I will be looking at what deep conditioners I have and top quality smoothers and will be plotting on how to try and make this look work. Details to come...

Katy Perry's Bangs
I haven't posted it here yet so I am going to break the big news right now...I am now the owner of short bangs a la Katy Perry. Many of you know that I have worn a side swept bang for about a year now and have been toying with the idea of the shorter bangs for a few months now.
I have been tabling the idea since last spring, my hair stylist and I agreed that summer is not the best time to make this kind of decision since the humidity won't help me style them very well. So after over four months of deliberation, I pulled the trigger last week and just got them cut.
Styling is definitely different, I have to change how I blow my hair dry of they will not straighten correctly. This also is the first time in quite a long time that I have to rely more on my blow dryer than I do on my straightening iron, my iron can do little more than touch them up after using the hair dryer on them. I have learned that it they look terrible after the blow dryer, then they will be put back into a scarf for the whole day and there is nothing that I can do to help them.
I haven't changed any of my styling products as of yet and aren't planning on it. I try not to get any of my heavier creams on my bangs and only treat them with a quick hit of Alterna Kendi Spray Oil. I am not going to have issues with styling product residue rubbing off on my forehead and breaking my skin.
So far reactions to my bangs have been very favorable and I am glad that I did this. I am also glad that I waited for the right season to do it since I have a feeling that I would have hated them had I made the change during the warm weather.

Anna Paquin's Blowback Hair Style
I love wearing my hair up especially when the weather outside makes it very difficult for me to wear my long, thick hair down (at least without dying of heat stroke) and I try to find as many ways to style it like this as I can. Right now, I have my bangs swept to the side and they are getting a bit on the long side.
I have a hair appointment later this week and part of me wonders if regular bangs would let me pull off a look like this a bit better or if they would only make it worse. I am thinking that this might be more of a creative blow dry technique than an actual style.
I love this picture of Anna Paquin from early in the True Blood series (a favorite show and book series of mine) and this is exactly how I would love to get my hair to look for the summer. It's clean and non fussy but still polished enough to wear with a sundress. I am going to try and my bangs back and see what happens over the next few days!

Zooey Deschanel's Bangs
I have been thinking about getting thick, short bangs for several months now. I talked to my stylist at my last hair appointment and she recommended that we table this discussion to fall because of the problems styling thick bangs during the hot summer weather. So I have about two and a half months until the time will come for me to make a decision and so I will be looking at pictures for the next few weeks to decide what cut I am going to get in mid September.
Zooey Deschanel is my bang goddess right now, I love every single way that she wears and styles her bangs and I am collecting pictures of her on my Pinterest and this blog. I will appreciate any feedback that you guys have on these pictures to give me some ideas of what I will want to get done.
I like the way that these bangs are thick but not fully straight across. I am not sure that I could pull off the straight across look and this is one that I would try for the first haircut and then I could decide on the straight across bangs later on. We are going to think of these bangs as the potential for the first cut and then make another decision at my next hair cut after that.

Zooey Deschanel's Haircut
I am making a hair appointment for next week while I am on vacation and this look is what I am thinking about. However I want bangs that are slightly more side-swept than her's in this picture. I also want my longest layer to just hit the tops of my shoulders. As of right now, this will be about 6 to 8 inches cut off my hair. What do you guys think?!

Anna Paquin's Hair Color
I am still on the fence about going blond. My initial thought was to start lightening my hair to an ice blond shade, a la Pam from True Blood. I am now beginning to wonder if that look is much to dramatic and will require more upkeep than I have time for. And how much it will wreck my hair at the same time.
I am now looking more at the shade of Anna Paquin's hair, still blonde but a few hues darker and more highlighted. I still don't know that I could get all the way to this blonde shade but I am thinking that highlights could begin to get me to this shade instead of the full bleaching that the ash blonde would require.
Looking for some feedback...

True Blood Pam's Hair Color
Is vampire my new look for spring? I have been told by someone who is in the beauty industry that she thinks I would look great with this color hair since my skintone is similar. I would start with highlights and then work my way up to this shade of pale blond and the whole look wouldn't fully emerge until next fall. Is this is bit too much or is a big change a good thing?

Noomi Rapace's Hair Color
It's a new year and I feel like heading off to the salon to update my look. My hair has been red or has had red highlights for the past three months and now I am considering going more toward a really dark brown. My complexion is pale this time of the year so the dark color would be a very striking contrast. Noomi Rapace's complexion is very close to mine at the moment so this hair shade should be very attractive on me.
And in my mind, Noomi Rapace is the original and best Lisbeth Salander and I will always prefer the Swedish version of the movies.
I will update with what shade I decide to color my hair. Any thoughts guys?

Rooney Mara's Curls
Happy Thanksgiving week ladies! This will be a crazy week for me so updates might be a bit more spaced out than usual so I apologize in advance. However the holiday season and end of semester craziness is coming quickly so I will post as much as possible but I can't promise a new post every single day for the next few weeks. One thing that I am most looking forward to in the ext month is the opening of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, being a huge fan of both the books and the Swedish movies.
The star of this version is Rooney Mara, normally a fair haired and pale skinned redhead is turn into Lisbeth Salander, a top level computer hacker with a punk sense of style. This is one of the biggest movie makeovers that I have seen in years and it makes me even more excited to go and see this movie. This picture is of her normal look, I love those curls and might consider test driving a look like that when my hair gets a bit longer...

Adele's Bangs
My latest haircut obsession - short bangs! I have been shying away from them since they will be so hard to grow out if I don't like them but I just love this picture of Adele. I just got my haircut a month ago and I love the length and how the new color but I am still thinking about those bangs...mine are side-swept and long at the moment. This is a bit more long-term at the moment (like after the holidays)... Thoughts?

Christina Hendricks Hairstyle
It's that time again and I am deciding on what style to ask for. I want to get a decent amount of length off and this is about where I want it to fall. I love the side-swept bangs and I am betting that I could wear this wavy (as she is) and straightens (as I often do my hair). Thoughts?

Juilanne Moore's Red Hair
Falling into a hair rut again...I still love my Katy Perry haircut and bangs and actually I am loving it even more as it is growing out and the bangs are becoming more side swept. That is the mark of a great haircut. But I have a dye appointment coming up and now am deciding what to ask for this time around.
My skin is still the same pale shade that it has been all winter but I am a bit hesitant about the red since I will begin my self tanning season in the beginning of May and I don't want the color to look strange against my bronze skin.
Give me some feedback please, I have a awful head cold and right now all my decisions are being tainted by my DayQuil regime that has been going since Saturday.
Thoughts? Feedback?

Katy Perry's Side Swept Bangs
About two months ago, I put a picture up on here of Katy Perry with short blunt bangs. Several days later, I had to stop in a see my stylish for a brow wax and I discussed those bangs with her. Her thoughts were that my hair is too thick to style those bangs every single day, at least once a day. She suggested longer bangs and I decided to put off my haircut for several weeks. But now after the hectic times of the holidays, I am back at deciding what type of cut that I want. So what do you guys think of this style of bangs? They are a bit longer and can be worn with a side part and should be better on the days that I don't have the time to fully straighten my hair.Thoughts on this one versus the other one?

Katy Perry's Bangs
I need a change. But since I'm me, I have to obsess over what I want to change about my hair for several weeks before I actually do it in real life. I am really liking the hairstyle in this photo, the bangs are my favorite but I also think that I would dye my hair the deeper shade. i could do the curls but I usually straighten my hair.Thoughts?

Amika Tourmaline Clip-Free Curler
I feel that this is the first time that I have reviewed a curling iron for my blog. Normally, I grumble about my wavy hair and am already trying to coax it perfectly straight. However, summer and flat irons don't seem to get along very well and so I have to either wear a ponytail everyday until Labor Day or investigate a new hair style. I was emailed several weeks ago by a PR company and the Amika line of tools was explained to me and some pictures of the results of use were provided. I decided that I liked the pictures of the loose, wavy curls the best and the tool that was used to create that look was then sent to me.Amika is a brand that provides salon quality tools that can be used in the comfort of your home. I found some background on the brand that I would like to share with you. "Amika creates professional, sophisticated styling tools and accessories designed to perfect your hair styles twice as fast as traditional tools. Amika uses hot technologies like nano, tourmaline and far-infrared heating to help care for your hair. With regular use, Amika products may even improve your hair's condition. So go ahead, show your hair a little love."
The curling iron that I was sent is unique in that it has no clamp to hold the hair, it comes with a heat resistant glove to do the job. I found the following as the product's description from folica.com, a seller of the items. "The curler features a tourmaline barrel fused with ceramic. Tourmaline is a natural source of negative ions and far infrared heat, which provides faster styling. Negative ions eliminate frizz and close the cuticle to create smooth, shiny hair. . Far infrared light easily pentrates hair for faster styling with less damage. High power, instant heat for consistent, dependable results on any type of hair".
So how do I make this work? I wash my hair at night, put it up in a clip to sleep, then when I wake up in the morning, I make sure that it is totally dry and start curling. I was a bit nervous about this at first since the product gets very hot and I was having visions of disaster with using the glove and getting my hand so close to the product. But no worries, the glove is the only protection needed. This iron does not have the clamp so that no marks are left on the hair from when it is brought down and then the curls look much more natural.
So how I did fare with this tool? So far, I am doing great with creating loose, beachy waves. The first time that I used it, I had a bit of a difficult time working with the glove and not having the hair come off while I was trying to get my hand up. Within the next few tries, I got a routine down and was able to get my timing right to clamp down on the barrel before I lost any hair. To create loose waves, I started with my air dried wavy hair and curled individual pieces that dried somewhat straighter than others. It usually takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to create the beachy, loose look. With this iron, I have found that I need to go in smaller sections than I might have done with a traditional iron so I will leave more time to use in the morning. However, the results totally justify these few minutes. I have gotten many compliments on my hair when using this product, in fact, I had a close friend tell me that she prefers my hair curly to when I flat-iron it (ouch!).
I am currently trying to create tighter curls with this product. This a much longer process and I really don't prefer myself with all the tight curls but I still want to see how it works out. I really recommend this curling iron to create loose waves and refine exisiting curls. I am also curious as to how well it will work if my hair is already straight and I decide to change my hairstyle before going out at night. Oh and I have the pink curling iron...of course!

Twilight Hair is Now My Reality...
About a year ago, I wrote about hoping to achieve Bella's long curly hair from the Twilight series. That dream was never realized when several weeks later, I got a couple inches trimmed off of my hair. However, this week I officially got Twilight hair. With a twist...The little twist is that instead of Bella hair, I went to the salon and got my hair cut into Alice's hair cut. Nine inches off, deep brown base color, auburn and light brown highlights, and side swept bangs. Three and half hours of processing and I am a new person.
Besides, Alice was always my favorite vampire and with the evolution of the series, ended up becoming my favorite character overall. I added a photo of Alice from the movies so you can get a better idea of what I lok like now.

Beachy, Wavy Hair My Way
I have been told that I look really pretty when I allow my natural curls to go wild. However, I vastly beg to differ and will continue to reach for my straightening iron until I can find a way to get beachy hair that only look semi wild and out of control. However, in my version, it is carefully under control and style to perfection...while still be allowed to move. This is one of the few pictures of any celeb that I have ever found that shows exactly how I want my hair to look. Bonus points that it's Jennifer Aniston (and yes...the photo is from 2004 but I still love it).Sexy and loose but still styled and controlled...will I ever figure out how to make my hair this amazing?!

My New Haircut
My dreams of having Twilight hair are definitely over. The longest layer of my hair now only hit’s the top of my shoulders with the shortest reaching just to my chin. In total, I got between 6 and 7 inches off of it. This new style definitely calls for the flat iron and would be horrifying with a curling iron… The daydream was fun while it lasted…
