Deborah Lippmann Spring 2014 Collection - Spring Reveries

Spring nail polish shades are always my favorite releases of the year, I usually buy all my pastels and brights this time of the year and wear them until after Labor Day.  I am alternating between pale pinks and dark grays right now but I will be adding more pinks and purples to my line up within the next few weeks.  I am ready to start looking for new shades and I was very excited to see that Deborah Lippmann has released her new spring polishes to her website.  Spring Reveries is the name of her newest collection, this is a range of pastel hues that reminds me of Easter Eggs.

I can already see that I am not going to be finding any new pink or purple shades from Spring Reveries but I am going to start looking to see what holes are in my pastel nail polish collection.  I have loved this nail polish formula for years and I love that it is now widely available at Sephora.  I haven't seen it very often in my local store but I will just order many of the shades online instead.

This line typically releases three or four new shades each season but they have decided to actually release six brand new shades for this spring and I hope that this trend will continue for the next few seasons.  Some of the shades have already been seen on the spring runways and I will make a note of which shades have already been shown in which shows.

The Spring Reveries collection...

- La Vie En Rose - pastel pink shimmer (shown on the Spring 2014 Badgley Mischka runway)
- Blue Orchid - baby blue cream (shown on the Spring 2014 Badgley Mischka runway)
- Spring Buds - pistachio cream
- Tip Top Through The Tulips - pale peach cream
- Build Me Up Buttercup - pale yellow cream
- Flowers In Her Hair - pale mint green cream

I really like quite a few of these shades and I want to pick up every shade but the peach and yellow ones.  If I had to pick just one shade to order, La Vie En Rose would be my top choice as I could alternate it with the rest of my favorite pale pink polishes.  Blue Orchid and Flowers In Her Hair are my next choices and then I would also consider grabbing Spring Buds to round out my shopping.

I am willing to bet that we will be seeing a bunch of pastel-themed nail polish collections this spring and I will need to decide which polish shades are my favorite.  Deborah Lippmann polishes have one of the best formulas in the industry and I would choose these other many other brands with similar shades.

Deborah Lippmann Holiday 2013 Collection

I may have been trying all different nail polish brands recently but I have a soft spot in my heart for anything that Deborah Lippmann brings out.  I have loved her products ever since 2006 when I first played with many of the shades and then my obsession was cemented when I found out that she was the personal manicurist to Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of Sex and the City.  I used nearly ever since drop of the Sarah Smile nail polish hue before I threw the bottle away and I always wish that these polishes were easier to find around me. 

This holiday season, Deborah has introduced three new polish shades that were original debuted on the Kate Spade runway earlier this year.  I love Kate Spade so I am even more excited to try these new shades out.  The three shades were combined into a nail art look for the runway and I don't know that I will be replicating the whole look but I would love to combine the white hue with one of the other shades to create a simple nail art look.

These three shades have a unique finish called "matteen", a matte finish with a subtle hint of shimmer to avoid the "flat" look that sometimes come from a matte finish polish.

The three shades are...
- Pseudo Silk Kimono - stark white
- Harem Silks From Bombay - deep moody purple
- Red Silk Boxers - deep ruby red

My favorite shades is Red Silk Boxers, I love both the name and the shade of this polish.  I have glittery red polishes, cream red polishes, and metallic red polishes but nothing that looks like the finish of this shade.  I will also pick Pseudo Silk Kimono up to use as accent to that shade and many others that I already own.  I am also considering buying Harem Silks From Bombay because I love the name and have nothing in my polish collection that resembles this shade. 

This new polish finish will just add to my Deborah Lippmann obsession and I will be adding even more shades to my nail polish collection this holiday season...

Deborah Lippmann Fall 2013 Collection - Jewel Heist

We haven't looked at many new nail polishes so far this fall and now we are turning our attention to the new polish shades from Deborah Lippmann.  I must say that I am the most excited for the new China Glaze collection but I am ready to look at these polishes and start to decide that shades I need for fall.  Jewel Heist is their offering for fall and this is one of the first times that we are seeing a unified collection from this company and not just a group of new shades.

Jewel Heist contains three deep jewel tones and then three holographic top coats to match each shade.  I am more interested in the three jewel tones but we will see if any of the top coats will work with my current style.  I might want to try one shade with the matching top coats but I don't think that I will purchase all of them...I see a deep navy blue in this collection so this would be my choice to try the top coat on.

To anyone that is not familiar with this polish line, the formula is now 5-Free (no DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor).  I am not sure what the addition (or lack of) Camphor does to nail polish but I guess it was taken out of the formula for a reason.

Here are the six new shades...

- Fake It Til You Make It - metallic champagne gold with small red, gold, and green hexagonal glitter
- Glitter and Be Gay - sheer top coat with sheer gold base
- Laughin To The Bank - deep emerald green shimmer
- Shake Your Money Maker - sheer top coat with green base and teal and gold glitter
- Rolling In The Deep - deep navy cream
- Va Va Voom - sheep top coat with navy base and bright blue and navy glitter

My favorite shades are the blues, I want both of the jewel and glitter polishes and these might be some of my favorite pieces of the season so far.  The last shade that I want is the deep emerald green though I will be skipping the top coat for that shade.  I am not interested in the gold hue, it might be too warm for me and I wear very little gold shades in my jewelry.  I am not sure how I feel about mixing gold nail polish with silver jewelry and might decide later on in the season.

Deborah Lippmann Summer 2013 Nail Polish Collection

The color collections are now really coming at us and the polish collections are now coming out too.  We had a great spring season for nail polish shades and I don't know how the beauty industry will be able to top the speckled polishes that were introduced by Illamasqua and Deborah Lippmann over the past few months.  After the great season that we just came off of, I am now doubly excited to see what some of my favorite companies have in store for me this season.  In the summer months, I love brights and then really pale nudes, I will be sick of pale pastel shades in the next few weeks and I will go back to wearing my favorite brights right after that!  I think that I am hoping to pick up a few new great brights in the next few weeks and then I want to buy at least one or two more pale nudes to add to my collection.  I am all over the polish shade range in the summer months and I usually change my polish at least every two days this time of the week.  And that doesn't even count my weekly pedicures...

The first new nail polish collection that I have seen for the summer months is that of Deborah Lippmann's and therefore that is right where we will begin!  I have loved this brand for years now and this is one of the best brands for pale neutral polish shades.  Sarah Smile is still one of my favorite shades, it is a lovely pale pink that was designed for Sarah Jessica Parker when she was on the set of Sex and the City (still my favorite television show!).  I will need to get another bottle of this shade very soon since I wear it all the time and for all occasions.

So what is Deborah Lippmann doing for the summer months?  We have four new shades offered that are all inspired by mermaids, I remember several summers ago that the beauty industry went through a mermaid phase and my favorite OPI for Sephora polish came out in this middle of this trend.  I wonder if this trend will be back this summer, the Chanel summer collection shades would work very well with this type of trend and I am betting that we will see more collections that are inspired by this type of trend.

- Do the Mermaid - lavender luster (glittered shimmer)
- Million Dollar Mermaid - tangerine twinkle (glittered shimmer)
- Mermaid's Kiss - bubbling blush (glittered shimmer)
- Mermaid's Eyes - seaside cerulean (glittered shimmer)

Mermaid's Eyes is my favorite of the new shades, I love any type of teal polish shade and this shade is very unique and quite special.  These shades might be my new favorites for the summer season and I am so excited to try out this new finish, I never thought that the speckled finish could be topped and this is almost like a shimming version of it.  After I get the teal shade, I want to buy both of the pink and lavender shades and I know that I will wear them all summer long. 

This collection is wonderful and a great start to summer polish collections, I still can't believe that companies can find more new finishes to make and each time they only get better and better.  I think that Mermaid's Eyes might be my early favorite of the whole summer season!

Deborah Lippmann Spring 2013 Collection - Romantic Rapture

Deborah Lippmann has brought out her spring polish shades and I could not be more excited to start adding more pastels to my polish collection.  I have still have not yet solved the storage issue or gotten over to Bed Bath and Beyond to look at drawers so I really shouldn't be adding that many more polishes to my collection but spring and summer are two of my favorite times to buy more polishes, last spring I bought more China Glaze and OPI polishes than every before and I also discovered Butter London so I am hoping that this spring is very similar.  I am excited about so many of the new shades from all kinds of companies that I have been hearing rumors about and since the Deborah Lippmann shades are up on the website, this is the collection that we are going to look at today.

Romantic Rapture is the name of the new collection from this company and it contains three new shades that are all pastels.  I haven't bought any pastels since last spring so it is high time that I add some more to my collection, I wear pastels all spring and then into the very beginning of summer.  I find that pastels are the only way that I can bring somewhat non-traditional shades into a professional environment.  Being an MBA student, I am very conscious of what I will and will not be able to wear to work in the coming years and while I love all kinds of polish colors, I always make that I have own at least six or seven that I can always wear in a conservative environment.  Of course a pastel in a slightly off-kilter hue is much less noticeable than the same hue in a bright shade...

The shades in Romantic Rapture are...

- Moon Rendezvous - faded slate blue (shimmer)
- Groove is in the Heart - flamingo pink (cream)
- Careless Whisper - scintillating nude (shimmer)

Moon Rendezvous is my favorite of shades, it is a faded cornflower blue shade with a shimmer finish.  Cornflower Blue was a favorite shade of mine when I used to color as a kid and this is the closest shade that I have ever seen to that beloved crayon shade.  I want to order this shade as soon as I can and this is a great example of a non-traditional shade that could be worn in a conservative environment.  Groove is in the Heart is a nice pink but I don't find it to be anything special.  I know that I would wear and like this shade throughout the spring and summer but I will postpone my purchase on it until I look at the other collections and see if there is a pink that I fall madly in love with.  Careless Whisper is another polish that I want to order right now, I loved pale nude hues and Deborah Lippmann does them better than any other line that I have ever tried. 

I love these polishes from Deborah Lippmann and I am excited to see what else comes out this spring!

Deborah Lippmann Holiday 2012 Collection

I have been all about the holiday polish collections the past few weeks, I have been so excited to see and buy all the new polish shades that I have been trending toward these types of holiday collections.  I might be neglecting some of the gift and color collections a bit but I am just so excited for new nail polish shades.  Don't worry...I will get to all the color and gift collections within the next five weeks but I really want to keep looking at new nail polish shades today!

Today we are going to look at the brand new holiday-inspired nail polish shades from Deborah Lippmann.  I was all over the True Blood nail polish sets from this company and now I am really excited to see what polishes are released for the holiday season.  I am a bit disappointed that I only see two new shades from this collection, this company always releases great shades and I would prefer to see four or five new shades instead of just the two.  Oh well, I guess two great shades are better than four good shades.  So far, I have been all about the reds and golds this season and this collection will play right into what I have been into so far.  Of course, we have a deep red shade.  I already own two deep red hues from this company and they are among my favorites and have been ever since I first bought them several years ago.  I might be adding another red to my Deborah Lippmann polish collection...

The first shade that we will look at is the red shade.  It is named "Through the Fire" and is described as a "radiant merlot" and has a shimmer finish.  I already have a shimmery red from Deborah Lippmann and she makes great shimmer red shades.  I must admit that this shade is not the most unique shade that she has ever released and is very similar to the shade that I already own (Since I Fell for You).  Through the Fire looks to be a bit deeper and on the cooler side, so I do think that this shade is worth ordering and that I will not end up with two of the exact same shade.  This one will be great for all kinds of holiday parties and then all throughout the rest of the winter months.  I am very much considering ordering this shade.

The second shade is the more unique of the two and is the one that I have pictured with this post.  Cleopatra in New York is "gold studded black".  It is a black base with huge pieces of gold glitter in it, I have never seen a polish like this before.  It makes me think of Batman and will be a seriously amazing shade on the nail itself, I can so see this shade selling out very quickly.  I have never worn black polish and don't find it that attractive and I am still obsessed with finding out more about this shade and seeing as many pictures of it as I can.  I have high hopes for this unique shade and I must find out as much as possible about it so that I can quickly decide whether or not to order it from this company's website.

I love these two polish shades and now I am even more excited to buy more nail polish shades, I will have to temper this obession a bit since I had to get a second container for all my polishes and will have to move them all into a much bigger container at the beginning of the new year.  Perhaps just one or two more polishes won't hurt...

Deborah Lippmann True Blood - Bad Things Mini Nail Lacquer Set

Earlier we looked at the first of the Deborah Lippmann True Blood nail sets, the duo that was designed for Sookie Stackhouse and contained a great neutral hue and a pretty shimmer top coat.  The second of the polish sets is much more dramatic and is more inspired by the vampires in the TV and book series and therefore contains the shades that would be worn at Fangtasia (the vampire bar in the series).  I love both of the sets and I already know that I now want to order both of them!

I still have only found these sets on the Nordstrom website so all of my information on the set and the color descriptions are from this website.  The Bad Things set contains three smaller-sized polishes,  a fact that makes me really excited.  Deborah Lippmann completely got it right here; the larger sized nail polishes are the more neutral hues that I would use all the time and the small sizes are the shades that I would only use a few times during the season.  I always go through my pale and neutral polishes very quickly and am always replacing these bottles, I just love how Deborah did the sizing of the shades as they are pretty much perfect for me!  I really want both of these sets now since I know that I will get tons of use from both of them all year long.

An overall product description, "HBO® and Deborah Lippmann introduce Bad Things, a trio of mini nail lacquers inspired by the award-winning series, True Blood®."  This nail polish set contains the following three shades...

- Bad Blood: a sheer black cherry, inspired by the ever-so-sultry Pam
- Strange Love: a vampy magenta, capturing the character of red-headed Jessica
- New Flesh: a Sookie-inspired, clean nude

Bad Blood is the shade that I am most excited about and not just because Pam is my favorite character in both the books and the TV series.  I love Lippmann's Just Walk Away Renee and this shade looks a sheer version of that super-pigmented red hue.  This is one of my favorite manicure and pedicure shades in the fall and winter and I would love to add another hue like this to my collection.  I actually wish that this shade would be available in the full size as I bet that I will really use it over the next few months!  Strange Love is a nice shade but I don't know how much use I will get from it, good thing that this is small size.  I know that I will New Flesh like crazy since I love Lippmann nude hues and this one looks like another great selection from this company.

I love both of the True Blood nail polish sets, everyone knows how much I love True Blood and will buy almost anything True Blood related.  It also helps when the True Blood products happen to be from one of my favorite companies and are products that I would buy anyway!

Deborah Lippmann True Blood Sookie Sookie Nail Lacquer Set

One of my favorite book series and TV shows is True Blood, in truth I much prefer the books however I am always more than happy to take some time out of my busy life to sit down and watch the love triangle between Sookie, Eric, and Bill.  I love True Blood tie-ins (remember the Tarte and True Blood collection from fall 2012?  I still use that eye shadow palette at least one or twice a week and I wish that there would have been more products offered in that series).  I had been reading of a True Blood perfume that was going to come out last summer only for either QVC or HSN but I never saw any reviews or thoughts on the product and eventually forget about it.  But imagine how excited I was to see this current collaboration with True Blood - True Blood and Deborah Lippmann!  I love True Blood and I love Deborah Lippmann products - this is almost too good to be true!

There are so far two nail lacquer sets that I can find on the Nordstrom website, I don't remember seeing this sets advertised anywhere else and I know that I would not have missed them.  Deborah Lippmann polishes are among the best in quality and shade range that are available on the market today and I have used her polishes for years now.  The majority of her single polish shades were created with celebrities and now it comes as no surprise to me that with the release of the Snow White movie earlier this year, she is teaming up with popular television and movie teams to create more product tie-ins.

I have only seen these sets on the Nordstrom website so that is where all product information and shade descriptions will be coming from.  "Sookie Sookie features Human Nature and Fairydust. Inspired by the character, Sookie, from the award-winning series, True Blood®, these shades portray the duality of her character. Human Nature, a mortal putty taupe, represents Sookie's human half, while Fairydust, an ethereal shimmer, symbolizes her fairy counterpart."  If you are not a True Blood follower, Sookie is the main character in the series and she is half human and half fairy, giving her special telepathic powers.

Both of the shades in this set are not part of the regular polish line up so if you like one or both of them, I recommend purchasing this set.  Realistically, if you like the shades but know nothing about True Blood, then I just suggest that you ignore the tie-in and use these great polishes.  Deborah Lippmann makes wonderful nude and pale polish shades, they don't streak during application and last for almost an entire week with minimal tip wear.  I am very fond of both of these shades and I would purchase them even without the True Blood tie-in.  I believe that I can easily use both shades along and then also use Fairydust as a shimmer top coat to all shades of polish.

I just love that there are more ways for me to express how much of a True-bie I am!  I want this set and we will check out the other set within the next few weeks!

Deborah Lippmann Fall 2012 Collection

I have been collecting all brands and shades of nail polish for the past few months, Deborah Lippmann polishes have been a favorite of mine for years now and I always look forward to the release of new shades.  I have been collecting new shades for the fall since the very beginning of July and some purchases from China Glaze, Chanel, and Nails Inc have really widen my polish collection.  And now that the new shades from Deborah Lippmann are available on her website, I can see that my collection is going to get even larger over the next few weeks.  I am excited to break out one of my favorite shades from this line for the fall months, Wicked Game is one of my favorite purples and one of the few duochrome shades that I own and love.  Fall also is the tijme of the year that I start using my favorite red shades from Lippmann, I am now getting really excited for the fall season to start!

The new releases from Deborah Lippmann are only two shades, one that is a cream and the other that is a glitter.  I am beginning to get sick of many of the glitter finish polishes so I am a bit disappointed that one of the two new polishes is another glitter finish.  I am really only interested in the polish with the cream finish, I am getting over the glitters and brights that I have been using all summer and am ready to start wearing some neutrals and jewel tones for the fall months. 

Modern Love is the shade that I want the most from this company for the fall season.  This is a "modern classic mauve" and the shade that I have pictured here.  This will be a great neutral for me over the fall season, it is a cool-toned mauve and will work well with my skin tone.  I can see myself reaching for this shade at least twice a week over the next few months.  Deobrah Lippmann makes some of the staple shades of my polish collection and at one point, I owned almost every single neutral shade that she made.  I have used some of these polishes up so I want to add this shade to my collection so that I can broaden my neutral range.

The second of the new shades is Let's Go Crazy, the glitter finish polish.  This shade is a "outrageous royal purple glitter" and I am not a huge fan of it.  I like the royal purple shade but I don't like the finish and I can't see myself wearing this shade all that much.  If I want to wear a royal purple shade, than I already own Illamasqua's Baptiste and I would be more likely to use this shade than to buy the Lippmann shade.  I really own wear Baptiste one or twice a month anyway so there is no point in me buying this shade, I would only wear it a handful of times before the spring season hits.  I will be skipping over this shade.

I am a bit upset that this collection only consists of two new shades, I only like one of them and I wish that I had some more choices.  I am going to look through the rest of the jewel tones and neutrals that are offered in the Deborah Lippmann polish line and see if there are any that I would order along with the Modern Love shade...

Deborah Lippmann Snow White and the Huntsman Set

I have not yet seen Snow White and the Huntsman in theaters and it still is the only movie that I might actually venture out and see in the next month or two.  I have heard great reviews about this movie from multiple friends and will mostly spend money on the tickets and huge tube of popcorn to go out and see what I think of the film.  Before the release of the movie, I looked at the Benefit makeup set that came out for the movie, it contains a series of products to create great skin and a subtle red lip look that would fir in perfectly with the makeup that was used in the movie.  While browsing on the beauty.com website, I found another great set that was made for this movie...from Deborah Lippmann yet too!

I have always loved Deborah Lippmann polishes and I am a sucker for great nail polish sets so this movie-inspired polish duo is just perfect for me!  This set contains a pale pink shade and deep red, both of which are part of the permanent polish line-up from this company.

The beauty.com website provides a full description of the set.  "Snow White's epic beauty and power are captured by noted fashion manicurist, Deborah Lippmann, with two of her fairest shades 'Prelude to a Kiss' and 'Dark Side of the Moon'.  Paired exclusively for Snow White and the Huntsman.  In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Snow White is the only person in the land fairer than evil Queen Ravenna, who is out to destroy her.  But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with The Huntsman first dispatched to kill her.  Also aiding in Snow White's quest is Prince Charmant, a childhood sweetheart long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power."

Prelude to a Kiss is a shade that I already own but I use so often that I could actually purchase a back up of this shade.  It is a "sheer misty pink" with a sheer cream finish.  One coat is almost totally see-through, two coats builds enough pigments to cover any cracks or ridges on my nails yet looks completely natural at the same time.  This shade wears very well on the nail and I usually get about four to five full days of wear from this shade (with minimal chipping on the nail tip).  As I stated before, I use this product often enough to actually warrant having a back up bottle (a rare feat for someone with an ever-growing polish collection)!

Dark Side of the Moon is a shade that I have seen on the display before but have never tried yet.  It is an "absolutely aubergine" and is a cream finish.  This shade is a very dark purple that could appear black in certain lights.  This shade will be great in the fall months and if I buy this set, I will be setting it aside until the end of September. 

I still have yet to see this movie but I can considering going pretty soon.  I love this set and I hope that Deborah Lippmann does more sets over the next few seasons.  This shades in this set are perfect for me, I love doing a deep, rich pedicure shade with a pale manicure.  And everyone knows how much I love Deborah Lippmann polishes!

Deborah Lippmann Summer 2012 Collection

I have been seeing some great phots of the new Deborah Lippmann summer polishes in both blogs and magazines, this is one of the first collections of all chrome finish polishes that we have seen in quite a long time.  My favorite chrome polish of all time is a Deborah Lippmann polish, Wicked Game, and therefore I have been very excited about this collection every since I first heard about it.  It is finally available on the Lippmann website so I would recommend checking them out before they are completely sold out.  I loved the Deborah Lippmann spring polishes and I am looking forward to find more polishes to love this summer. 

This collection consists of three new shades that are a different type than most of the summer collections, there are no brights and neons in this collections and the deep chrome shades almost look as though they could be a fall collection.  In fact, this actually might be more appropriate as a fall collection, I find it interesting that many of the spring collections contained the brights and the summer collection contains some deep warm hues.  It is not very often that I buy products well before the season begins and put them aside but I feel confident that this collection of polishes will be perfect in any season.

The first shade is my least favorite of the collection, Swagga Like Us is a copper shade that I don't feel will be very flattering on my skintone.  This shade is a "oxidized copper teal" with the mirrored chrome finish that all the polishes in this group have.  This shade is a medium copper with a bit of a green cast to it, this isn't my favorite type of shade to begin with and is too warm for me to pull off.  This shade would look lovely on someone with a warm, tanned skintone but since i will never be this, I will not be buying this shade.

The second shade of the collection is a champagne tone, a shade that very easily could become a staple for me over the next few months.  This shade is named Sugar Daddy and it is an "antiqued champagne" with neutral undertones.  This shade would work well on almost any skintone and shade, it is just that good of a neutral.  I will be ordering this shade and it will work well with almost everything that I currently own.  Based on the pictures that I have seen of this polish in different lights, it has a pink undertone to it in some lights.  This is such a good shade for me.

The last shade of the collection is my favorite and reminds me very much of Wicked Game.  This shade is a deep purple named Private Dancer.  This shade is a deeper purple than Wicked Game and is more blue toned, where Wicked Game has a deep bronze cast to it in some lights.  This shade is a "gilded ultra violet" and is one of the best purple shades that I have seen.  I can't see that I will wear this shade in the summer but I will want to buy it and put it aside for the fall, I will wear this shade all throughout the cooler weather months.

This is one of the most unique summer collections this season and I find it to be a bit better suited for the fall months.  I have found two great shades in this collection, one everyday neutral and one great jewel tone.  Deborah Lippmann makes some of the best polishes on the beauty market today and I always look forward to the new collections!

Deborah Lippmann Spring 2012 Collection - Resort Collection

I have been seeing hints of the new Deborah Lippmann spring nail polish shades in many of the March issues of the top beauty magazines and I have been so excited for the actual release of the line.  I have finally found it on the website and I am so excited to order the Mermaid's Dream shade, pale greens and blue are going to be huge this spring and this polish is one of the best and most unique shades that I have seen so far this season.  I know that I would wear these shades all spring and summer on my toes, I may not wear them quite as frequently on my nails since I have been really into pinks lately but I will be buying from this collection since these are two great new shades.

This collection is named the Resort Collection and consists of the two new shades in the popular pale blue and green hues of the spring.  I was hard-pressed to pick a favorite but I have to choose Mermaid's Dream as my favorite of the collection and one of my favorite new polishes of the whole spring season. 

The first shade of the collection is the much-hyped Mermaid's Dream, I fell in love with it as soon as I first saw it in a magazine a few weeks ago.  This is the shade that I have included a picture of so all of you can see why I fell so much in love with it.  This shade is described as "seafoam splendor" and has a glittered shimmer finish.  Based on the photos that I have been seeing of this, it looks like it would be sheer with just one coat and the full color would have to be built up with at least two or three coats.  I would wear it both ways, I think that it has the potential to be an attractive top coat on for a cool toned blue polish and it will be lovely when applied to it's true shade potential.  '

The other shade in the collection is named On The Beach, a bright blue hue that reminds me of the beautiful oceans of the Riveria.  This shade is "rich riveria blue" and has a creme finish to it.  This one will be more of a toe nail polish shade for me, this will be perfect with peep toes in the spring and I will wear it to the beach this whole summer. 

I have been loving blues and greens for the past few weeks and these are two fo the best shades that I have seen from all the collections so far.  Mermaid's Dream might be my favorite shade of the whole season and is my favorite green of the whole season so far.  I love this collection from Deborah Lippmann and my only complaint is that I wish that it was larger and contained more great pale green and blue hues for the season...

Deborah Lippmann Holiday 2011 Collection

Nail polish has been my obsession recently and I have been finding new companies and products to try for the past few months.  However even as I find new companies to try, I never forget my favorites and the companies that made me first start loving nail polish - Chanel and Deborah Lippmann.  We already looked at the Chanel holiday collection and saw the new nail polish shades in it and therefore today we are going to look at the new holiday shades from Deborah Lippmann.  This holiday season we have been seeing an abudance of glitter polishes and this new collection follows right along with that trend.

Five new polishes have been released, four that are glitters and one that is a shimmer.  I used to hate glitter polishes but ever since I bought China Glaze's Ruby Pumps last summer I have fallen in love with a few of them.  There is a red glitter in this collection that I am very attracted to but I want to see how different the shade is from Ruby Pumps since I can't see how many red glitter polishes that I will be needing in my collection.

First we will start with the one non-glitter polish.  This shade is named Glamorous Life and is described as a "Rolex rose gold".  Rose gold Rolex watches have been all over the pages of Vogue and In Style the past few months so I wasn't surprised to see that they have inspired a nail polish shade.  Rose gold jewelry overall has been very popular the past few months since it is flattering to many different skin tones and works with many hues of clothing.  This shade could be a staple of mine, it is flattering for my pink toned skin and is professional which still attracting attention.  This is the easiest of all the shades in the collection to wear.

The first of the glitter shades is the red that I was talking about in the introduction to this post.  Do Ya Think I'm Sexy is named after the Rod Stewart song from the late 1970s, I believe that the girl in the music video is wearing some type of red lipstick and has matching red nails.  This shade is a "risque red sequin" with a true glitter finish.  This one looks as though it will be more a true red glitter instead of the red glitter suspended in red polish like the Ruby Slippers.  This one seems as though it will need several coats to build all the way up to the a pure glitter red finish.  This one looks as though it will be brighter and more glittery than the Ruby Slippers shade.  I'm still not totally convinced that I need a second red glitter shade in my collection though.  I am considering using it more as a red glitter top coat and painting a sheer coat over a black or silver chrome nail polish.

The second of the glitter shades is a bright gold.  This shade is named Shake Your Groove Thing and this is the brightest shade of the collection.  This one is "full-on flickering gold" with a glitter finish.  This is one of the brightest glitter finishes that I have ever seen and is also one of the truest gold nail polishes that I have ever seen.  This one will get attention but needs to be paired with the corrent outfit and occasion, this is not an office friendly shade.  This might be too bright in many situations but for holiday parties, this will be the perfect gold shade.  I am thinking about using this polish as I was the red glitter shade, a thin coat over a deep navy or purple shade.  I think that the only way that I would really wear this polish to use it as a top coat but I don't really know that I can purchase it just for that.

The third of the glitter polishes is one that I would be more likely to purchase than the two previous.  Stairway to Heaven is a silver glitter that is a bit more subtle than the rest of the collection and will be one of the easier shades to pull off.  This is a glitter that a more conservative person could wear to a holiday party and not feel like people are spending the evening stareing at her nails.  Stairway to Heaven is named after the classic Led Zeppelin song is the only iridescent shade of the group.  This is an "iridescent icicle" and is the most subtle glimmer of the collection.  This one reminds me of sparkling snow and will be great to wear all winter long, this one is not quite as obvious "holiday" as the the previous two in this collection.  This is a polish that I bet that I will ordering within the next few weeks.

The last polish in the collection is my favorite shade of the group.  This polish is named I Love the Nightlife and is another very unique shade.  I don't own any shade like this in my collection and I can't even really think of many other polishes that are comparable.  This polish is a "groovey graphite" and is a deep charcoal gray glitter.  This polish is the most cutting edge of the group, it is a break from the traditional holiday shades and could be worn all winter and I would get the bottle out again next fall.  I want the shade the most and I will be ordering this one.

I Love the Nightlife is one of my favorite nail polish shades that has come out so far this year, I will be ordering this one very soon.  I want to purchase Stairway to Heaven and Glamorous Life since I will get lots of wear from both of them.  This is a lovely holiday collection and at least one of these shades will work with any type of party outfit.

Lippmann Collection Fall 2011 Collection

Within days, the one of the first of the new nail polish collections for fall will be hitting the stores.  For the past few weeks, I have been cleaning out my old nail polishes in my collection so I am ready to buy some new ones to replace the bottles that I threw away.  I have never really been one for summer nail polish shades so I didn't buy anything new for the past few months (brights aren't my thing and owning less than five of them is enough to satisfy my urge for a few bright beach pedicures), so I am ready to find some new shades.  Lippmann Collection has released four new shades for the upcoming season, one of which is a collaboration with fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez.  I remember their collaboration with Zac Posen from Spring 2009, the lovely lilac shade that is on may nails as I type this.  I have high hopes for this collaboration!

Billionaire is the first of the new shades for fall.  It is described by Lippmann Collection as a "moody hunter green" with a cream finish.  This one will be great for a manicure against some of warmer toned clothing that I saw in last month's Vogue.  The cream finish on this shade makes it a bit more subtle than if it was a shimmer finish and this just might make it work-acceptable.  This shade will be a good addition to my collection sincer the only greens that I have left in my collection are a light mint and a very deep forest green.  I will be looking forward to buying this shade and adding to my polish shades that are more neutral and can be used in many scenerios.

The second new shade of the collection is the only one with a shimmer finish.  It is named Brick House and the name alone made my laugh and turned this into a must-own for me.  It is a "shimmering rust" and reminds me of a lighter and warmer version of Since I Fell For You (a longtime favorite of my from Lippmann).  This shade reminds me of the shade that the leaves turn during the fall, it is very pretty.  This shade is not very unique and I know that I could find dupes to it from either O.P.I. or China Glaze, I can't state that this shade is a must-buy for me though I would very much like to own it.  I am also afraid that this shade might be too warm for my skintone.

The third of the four new shades is Single Ladies, named after the hit Beyonce song and the dance craze that it inspired.  This one is a "flirtatious red" and is another cream finish.  Based on the image provided to me, this one looks like a traditional deep red cream and I wonder how much lighter it is from Just Walk Away Renee (one of my top five favorites from this company).  This is another one that is very pretty but is another one that I could easily find a dupe for. 

The shade that was made with Narciso Rodriguez is named Stormy Weather and is the shade that I have pictured with this post.  An "edgy granite" describes this shade and it is another one in this collection with a cream finish.  This is the one shade that I consider from this company to be really unique and therefore this is the shade that I want the most from this season's polishes.  This shade is another one that can be worn day or night, for work or play. 

My favorite of the shades is this season's collaboration with Narciso Rodriguez, just as I thought that it would be.  The designer collaborations are usually the best shades in the collection and this one doesn't disapppoint.  This will be my fall/winter designer collaboration shade with Purple Rain being my summer one.  This is strong collection from Lippmann though I can't say that it is a super stand-out, the shades are very nice but there is nothing surprising or unique about many of them.

Lippmann Collection Rich Girl Hand Cream

It has been said that a lady's hand reveal more about her than any other part of her body.  If you remember back to Gone With the Wind, Rhett saw through Scarlett's facade of richness as soon as he looked at her hands and saw how beat up they were.  The skin on the tops of our hands is among the thinnest on any area of our body and it often the most affected by the sun and the damage that it causes.  Many first impressions come in the form of a handshake and therefore a good hand cream is something that everyone should be in the habit of using daily.  Personally, I usually alternate between at least two different hand creams, one for the day and one for the evening.  My night hand cream is currently the Super Rich Hand Cream from Bath and Body Works and my day hand cream is this one from Lippmann Collection.

We all know that I love Lippmann Collection polishes and it was only a matter of time before I began trying out their whole line of products.  I bought this hand cream several weeks ago at Nordstrom, after being given a small sample a few months before.  I was intially attracted to this product for two major reasons.  The first reason was that it was a product from Lippmann Collection and the second is that it contains an SPF of 25.  The last thing that I can afford is to have age spots and visible sun damage on my hands since my skin is so pale to begin with.

The Lippmann Collection website states, "Your hands are the first reveal your age.  Keep them guessing with this award-winning hand cream that is formulated with shea butter, avocado, and jojoba oil for unparalleled hydration.  A botanical brightening complex to help even skin tone and a broad-spectrum sunscreen also lend a hand.  Apply a dime size, and then throughly massage into the hands and cuticles.  Intensely hydrating formula works instantly to moisturize and soften.  SPF 25 provides UVA and UVB protection.  Botanical brightening complex even skin pigmentation without irritation.  Cyclomethicone locks in moisture for continued comfort and hydration."

There is just so much to love with this product!  Of course, I love the sun protection since I need any help that I can get in that area with my skintone.  The scent is a very light floral that doesn't compete with any perfume that I wear and doesn't offend anyone that comes into contact with me. This hand cream is very rich and hydrating, mostly thanks to the Shea Butter in the formula.  You only need a little dab of this ceram to completely cover your hands, a dine size might even be a bit too much depending on how dry your hands are.  The first time that I used the product, I put on way too much and it didn't sink in nearly as well as I would have liked.  Less is more with this hand cream formula.   I don't really have any complaints about this product at all, which is pretty new for me.

The SPF is a nice added protection however you must continue to apply the product everytime after you wash your hands.  You must remember how often you use your wands during the day and then wash them or wioe them off.  Everytime that you do that, some of the sunscreen comes off.  So this is a product that you can't just put on once and forget about, like any other sun protection item, you do need to be diligent about repapplying.  Other than having to remember that the SPF is only as good as the way it is applied, I think that this is fabulous hand cream and one that every woman should try.

Lippmann Collection Summer 2011 Collection

I first got a glimpse of the Lippmann Collection summer 2011 shades at the end of last winter during the 2011 Grammy Awards.  I put pictures up of Lady Gaga wearing the Yellow Brick Road shade to usher in the trend of yellow nails for the spring and summer seasons.  Well now the whole collection of shades is finally here and I am happy to report that even if you don't like yellow on the nails (like me) there are other shades for you.  There are four shades in total, which is larger than the past few Lippmann Collection releases. 

The first shade is the one that we have been talking about the most so far.  This is the Yellow Brick Road shade that we first saw at the Grammys.  This shade is described as a "sheer mellow yellow" even though the shade looked opaque on Lady Gaga.  It has a jelly finish so it will be cream with lots of shine when applied to the nail.  I am guessing that Lippmann used several coats of the polish in order to create the full coverage finish.  I like that this shade better now that I know that it is a sheer.  I am willing to bet that this is designed to appeal to both those who love yellow and those who are a bit timid about wearing this bright shade.  So this one might be a maybe for me but I will have to go to the Nordstrom counter first and see how this works on me.  I am thinking this one might be better with a slight tan than my normal pale skin.  We shall see...

The second of the new shades is Lara's Theme, a bright summer neon that was designed with supermodel Lara Stone.  Brights are all over the place this summer so this one will fit that trend to a "T".  This one is a "double Dutch orange" (Stone is Dutch, I believe).  This one looks as though it will be a cream finish.  This one is a very neon orange, which is right on trend with the yellow.  The bright orange is not for me, with or without a tan.  I will be skipping on this one but I bet that it will sell well to those ladies with an affinity for the bright shades.

The next new shade is Girls Just Want To Have Fun, named after the iconic Cyndi Lauper song from the 1980s.  This is my favorite polish name of the collection, which makes me really want to buy this polish.  This is described as a "carefree coral" with a cream finish.  This one reminds me of the shades that were worn back during the 1960s when the beach culture became very popular in Hollywood.  I would wear this with tanned skin, this one will be easier for me since it seems to have a bit of pink in it so I can pull it off easier than the neon orange offered in this collection.

The last shade is my favorite of the collection, we all know that I love the blue polish shades.  This one is great for the summer since it is lighter than many of the midnight blues that I tend to purchase all fall and winter long.  This one is named I Know What Boys Like, more of a periwinkle shade.  The periwinkle shade can be hard to define for some shades, this is one is a mix of blue and purple with a cream finish.  I included the picture of this one in the post so you all can see it for yourselves.  I just love this shade since I very often retire some of my blues in the warm weather.  And I have been loving purples recently so this is another twist on this shade.

I am so excited to add more Lippmann Collection shades to my nail polish collection (I am giving myself a Lippmann Collection pedicure as I write this up).  My favorite is the shade I Know What Boys Like, I will be wearing this for the rest of the spring and all summer.  Girls Just Want To Have Fun will be another shade on my shopping list for summer, this one will be great against white sandals and tanned skin.  The verdit is still out on Yellow Brish Road, I will need to try this one out before I decide on the purchase.

Anne Hathaway at the 2011 Oscars

Several weeks ago, I was obsessing over Anne Hathway's fantastic Golden Globes look. At this year's Oscars, she was the host so she wore several different outfits throughout the night, complete with full makeup and hair changes. To complelemt her many changes, she wore a very simple Lippmann Collection nail polish shade from the spring collection, called Naked.

Deborah Lippmann painted Anne's nails this shade, a clean and bare beige hue, in order to complement both her porcelain skin and her many outfit changes. If there is one shade that can match every shade from crimson to deep blue metallic, Naked is indeed it. This was a great choice from Lippmann and I recommend this shade as a clean, polished hue that can get you through the whole work week, not matter how many outfit changes you have.

Lady Gaga's Lippmann Collection Manicure at the 2011 Grammy Awards

Lady Gaga was back at it earlier this month at the 2011 Grammy Awards. She descended on the stage from an egg and went on to deliver a fantastic performance. Not only did she catch the crowd's undivided attention and wow everyone with her voice, her look was classic Gaga fantastic, topped off with a manicure using a new shade from Lippmann Collection.

The shade can be seen on her nails in this photo. The shade is named Yellow Brick Road and is a rich cream yellow. Deborah Lippmann selected this shade with the star to complement the canary yellow outfit chosen for the stage performance. This shade is not out yet and will launch in the middle of April with the Lippmann Collection Summer 2011 shades. I am willing to bet this shade will be a hit against tanned skin in the summer months.

Lippmann Collection Spring 2011 Shades

Lippmann Collection has new shades out for this spring! We all know that Lippmann Collection is a favorite brand of mine and that I rapidly collect as many products from them as I can. As I am typing this, I am wearing the Purple Rain shade that was made two years ago for the Zac Posen Spring 2009 shows. Their collections have never had a miss for me so I am very interested in what new shades are coming out right now. This collection only consists of two new shades but they both look as though they are going to be winners based on the pictures of them on the website.

The first shade is the one that I find the more interesting of the two. It is named Glitter In The Air and has the same type of finish that Happy Birthday had last spring. This shade is described on the Lippmann Collection website as a "sky blue confetti". This one appears to be a pale blue background with blue confetti suspended in it. This one looks as though it will make quite an impact on the nail. Based on the previous experience that I have had with Lippmann Collection, I beleive that this shade will take two coats to evenly cover the entire nail and that the confetti might take some practice to perfect. This shade looks as though it will be the hit of the season for this company.

The second shade is the more universal of the two, this one is another neutral from this company. I have several very nice pales and neutrals from Lippmann Collection and I am looking forward to this one since it should be another hit to add to my collection. This shade is named Naked and is described as "clean bare beige". This one has a cream finish and is a great neutral shade for the office. In the tradition of Lippmann Collection pales, one coat of this shade will give a sheer finish and two coats will give an opaque nude finish.

I will be snapping both of these shades up before the brights come out this summer. I love pale shades in the warm weather and I really love shades that are cool toned and will set off my skin tone. This is another winning collection from Lippmann Collection and I am willing to bet that I will be getting tons of use from both of the new shades.

Another Shot of Anne Hathaway at The Golden Globes

All my raving about Anne Hathaway's look at this year's Golden Globes can now be added to. Her nails were by Lippmann Collection and the polish shades were chosen to keep the full focus on her lovely Armani Prive gown. Deborah used the shade "I Dreamed You" on her nails, a starry opalescent pink, followed up with Rachel Zoe's favorite top coat, Addicted to Speed, to protect her nails.

Some looks are just perfect and this is one of them...
