Butter London Spring 2013 Collection - Sweetie Shop

One of the spring collections that I have been stalking for the past few weeks is now up on the company's website and I could not be more excited to start looking at the new Butter London nail polish shades!  I have been in love with Butter London polishes for about a year now and I want to add some more to my collection, I see that some shades are now available on the Sephora website but I have never seen any of them at the stores.  It is nice that I now have another place to find shades because both of the Ultas that are in driving distance to me tend to sell out of these shades very quickly.  Case in point - it took me seven months of visits for the stars to align and for All Hail the Queen to finally be available when I was at the store.  I don't know if the demand is just that high or if the shipments are very spotty but it often takes me more than one try to get the shades that I want from this line and the website for Ulta is often no better at having what I want in stock.  All this tells me is that I will have to hunt for the shades that I want the most from the spring collection and to not give up when I can't find them until May...

This collection for spring consists of six new shades of polish, one that is neutral and the others are colorful hues.  I had seen pictures of Fiver and Molly Coddled in magazines for this month and these are my two favorite shades so far from the collection.  I am ready for pastels on my hands and toes and it appears that there will be some great choices in this collection.  And the name Sweetie Shop just makes me think of an ice cream shop and all the pretty shades that are in the counter.

The Nordstrom website provides the best description of the polish formula and background that I can find (even better than the company's website) so I have included this to help anyone who is not familiar with this brand.  "What is 3 Free? butter LONDON is a 3 Free company: no formaldehyde, no toluene, no DBP (dibutyl phthalate). - Cuppa - toasted opaque tan creme
- Fiver - opaque icy mint creme
- Fruit Machine - opaque punchy carnation creme
- Jasper - opaque bright pastel yellow creme
- Kerfuffle - opaque coral pink creme
- Molly Coddled - opaque orchid creme

Molly Coddled is my favorite shade and it is the picture that I have included here so that everyone can see how pretty this shade is and how perfect it will be for spring!  I will be adding this shade to my Most Wanted list for next month and I will begin the search for it.  In fact, I want flats in this hue and a cardigan too.  This might just be one of the prettiest lavender shades that I have seen lately.

Fiver is also very high on my shopping list, I don't have a mint green shade and I have been wanting one ever since I started seeing spring nail polishes in magazines, this one will be coming home with me from Ulta the next time that I can find it.  Fruit Machine is a great shade for spring and summer also and I would like to take this bubble gum pink home with me too.  I have been talking recently about my issues with storing nail polishes and this collection is only going to make the problem worse but I love these three hues and I will be adding to my polish collection this spring!

MAC Archie's Girls - Betty

This is the last post from the MAC Archie's Girls collection, I already have three pieces sitting in my cart on the MAC website and I will finish up and check out after I finish up with this part of the color collection.  I have a feeling that I will eventually end up with a huge pile of products from this collection and a huge part of my beauty budget will end up being spent on this collection.  I am thinking that I will end up buying my products in three rounds.  The first round is the one that I am on right now, the items that I want right now and cannot live without (and are in stock - that's the kicker!).  The second round will occur when the restock is done and will be done at the counter so I can look at every single shade and make my final decisions on what I must get in this round.  My last round will be any items that were re-stocked very late or that I like but aren't unique enough for me to chase down...

The Betty part of the color collection is my overall favorite, even though I prefer the character of Veronica.  This collection will give me several lip shades that will work throughout the entire year and with all kinds of eye makeup looks.  Since I love MAC Lipsticks and Lipglasses, this is one of the first companies that I will look to when buying new lip products.

I could only order one of my choices from this collection, Stay Sweet Lipglass is the only item that I wanted that isn't already sold out.  Summer Sweetheart was originally on my list until I saw that the description stated that it is a peach shade, it looked more pink in the picture and now this is one that I must see to make my final decision.  Stay Sweet is the last item that I was able to add to my shopping cart and this one is now on it's way to me.

The Girl Next Door Lipstick is sold out which really despressed me since this is one that I really wanted when I first looked at the collection, this was the one item that I wanted the most.  This one will be going to the top of my list for when the collection is restocked at the counters. 

There is nothing else that I want from this part of the collection, I think Veronica's color collection is the winner here!

MAC Archie's Girls - Veronica

Yesterday we looked at the main part of the MAC Archie's Girls collection and today we will go into the Veronica and Betty-inspired mini color collections.  I am thinking that these are going to be the pieces that sell out the quickest, the Lipsticks and Lipglasses in almost every single limited edition collection tend to sell out the fastest and this collection will be no exception.  They are the first two items that I checked out when I started looking at pictures and reviews of the collection, I will want shades in both products from both the Veronica and the Betty lines and this will be the deciding factor as to which collection I spend the most amount of money from.

The Veronica collection is the one that we are going to start with, initially I was the most tempted by the part of the collection since I saw a red lipstick in it.  However once I really began to look at the products, I think that I might want a bit more from the Betty part of the collection as there are some great pink Lipsticks and Lipglasses offered in it.  Perhaps I will just buy the shades from both collections and use the Betty right now and the Veronica ones as the fall comes closer...

Ronnie Red is the Lipstick shade that I have pictured here, this one is always sold out so I will have to wait for the restock on this shade (though it looks exactly like MAC Red, Red Racer from Hey! Sailor, and the red shade from Venomous Villains...), I will still want to add it to my collection.  Daddy's Little Girl is also sold out from the Lipsticks so this one will also go on my restock shopping list...

Since I can't order either of the Lipsticks that I like, I turned to the Lipglass shades.  I ordered Strawberry Malt even though it was not on my original shopping list, this shade is a pink red and will be very pretty in the spring and summer months.  Mall Madness is now also sold out so this is another shade that I will have to buy at the counters in a few weeks.  From the Nail Lacquers, I want the Double Trouble shade, this navy will be an excellent addition to my polish collection and I will pick it up on my second round (it's not unique enough for me to fight for in the first round).

MAC Archie's GIrls - Online Exclusives

Earlier today, we looked at the base collection of MAC's Archie's Girls and I have already started some major shopping on the MAC website.  So far, I have my shopping divided evenly between the Betty and Veronica products but I don't know how even it will stay after I see all the Lipsticks and Lipglasses in both part of the collections.  The Online Exclusives will hold the least amount of interest for me, I don't want any new makeup bags or totes and I don't know that I would really use one with the Archie's Girls graphics on anyway.

I do see that there is a Brush Set included in this part of the collection and this is only the only product that I find somewhat tempting.  I need a new powder brush but I don't know that I want a limited edition size of the brush when I really need a good powder brush that will stand up to everyday usage.  Maybe I will spring for the compact mirror but I really would rather spend my beauty budget dollars on the actual makeup products from this collection.

The Young Hearts Mirror is only item that I would buy from this collector's online only collection, I really love Archie's Girls but I don't really want or need anything from this collection.  I would only shop from this collection if I had bought everything that I already wanted from all the parts of the color collection and then had money left over.  I would be more likely to spend the extra money on more makeup from either MAC or Sephora...

MAC Archie's Girls

Archie's Girls is finally fully up on the MAC website and we are going to begin checking all the new items out and deciding what I am going to buy from this collection.  I put out my Most Wanted list for this month and my four favorite pieces from the collections made that list.  This collection is divided into four sections, today we are going to look at the base collection from Archie's Girls and then the makeup cases and bags that are exclusive to the website.  Tomorrow we will look at the products that were made for Betty and Veronica, there are small collections that were made for each girl, complete with shades for them and clever matching names.  I do remember Archie Comics from when I was a kid and Veronica was always my favorite in each edition.  I am predicting that I will love both of these collection equally and will want to order multiple shades and products from each line. 

I am going to start with the base collection from Archie's Girls, this collection carries the eye and face makeup that forms the back bone of the collection.  The Eye Shadow x 4 in Caramel Sundae is one of my early favorites from this collection, it contains rose and neutral shades and will be perfect for me.  This is the first piece that will be going into my shopping cart!

The two items that I wanted the most on from this part of the base collection is the Eye Shadow x 4 in Caramel Sundae and the Veronica Powder Blush in Prom Princess and now both of these products are sitting in my Shopping Cart on the website.  The Eye Shadow x 4 in Caramel Sundae contains roses and neutrals that will be perfect for my blue eyes and will mix well with all the neutral shades that I already own.  The Veronica Powder Blush is a deep pink that I will love on my cool-toned skin.  I am so excited to receive these items.

On my second shopping trip from this collection, I still have a few more pieces that I will want.  I will wait a few weeks until MAC restocks this collection and visit the counters this time around so that I can see every single tester.  I want the Eye Shadow x 4 in Spoiled Rich however I wouldn't use it as much as the other, this one will be better for nighttime looks.  I would only use the deep navy shade as an eyeliner but I love both of the violet hues.  This would be a very nice addition to my eye makeup collection but I won't die if I can't get my hands on it.  I would also like to buy the Pearlmatte Face Powder in Veronica's Blush, I would use this only as a blush not a highlighter.  I doubt that this product will be restocked (based on my experience with MAC) so I considered ordering this product instead of the Prom Princess but Veronica's Blush has a stronger Frost finish and I wouldn't have worn it near as much as the Prom Princess Blush.

The Opulash Mascara and the Pearlglide Eye Liners in Lord it Up and Black Swan are also items that would be nice to own but aren't very unique.  These will be among the last items to sell out so I can get them at any time.  They are nice shades but I could find them in many beauty product lines so I won't be running to the counters for these.  The Pigments and the Betty Blush will just be skipped over, none of them are my style.

The base collection of Archie's Girls will get us started and next we will look at the Online Exclusives for the collection.  I can't say that I am all that excited for the Online Exclusives part, I wouldn't buy any of the makeup bags in this collection.

Five Favorite - Pink Beauty Products

Today is the first of February and I will try to salute the month of romance and lovers in my own way.  And the only way that I can do this is to talk about my favorite pink beauty products, I love pink lipsticks and matching nail polishes and I later ended up falling in love with the Bath and Body Works Pink Chiffon body products (even though I wasn't a fan intially).  I am considering purchasing a little something for this holiday and perhaps this will take the sting out of the day, I will work all day that day and then I have class at night so at least the day will go by quickly and I won't be in a funk about not having a date that night...

Today we are going to look at my Five Favorite pink beauty products.  Ladies, any of these products will be great for a Valentine's Day date and then will still be in style all throughout the spring months.  No matter what your thoughts on the holiday are, you will find a product or two to try from this group!  I may hate Valentine's Day but I love pink lipstick shades!!

Here are my favorite pinks!

NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in Schiap - "A pure, creamy lipstick formula for bold color.  Nars Lipsticks are enriched with vitamin E to increase wearability and keep true color intact. Sheer finish creates the most natural, stained-looking lips. Semi-matte produces velvety, full-bodied lips. Finally, satin fashions creamy, moist-looking lips."  Schiap is a "semi-matte shocking pink".  This is my favorite pink lipstick and I am not alone in my love since it it sold out all the time at Sephora.  This shade is a bright matte pink, it creates the best bright pink lip and it lasts all day long.  The matte finish keeps this shade looking classy and I wear this shade all throughout the year.  The shade was named after designer Elsa Schaiparelli, an avant garde designer from the 20th Centruy who loved bright pink hues such as this one.  I really love to wear red lip hues all the time but this bright pink actually makes me put the reds to the side and rock the pink.  This is a great choice for Valentine's Day or any day of the year.

Bath and Body Works Pink Chiffon Body Lotion - "Our exclusive Signature Collection Body Lotion is fortified with powerful ingredients like super conditioning Shea Butter, fast absorbing Jojoba Oil and protective Vitamin E to hydrate skin with moisture that lasts all day. Our non-greasy formula absorbs quickly and completely to leave skin feeling incredibly soft, smooth and nourished, making it the perfect daily moisturizer.  Our exclusive Pink Chiffon is a light-as-air pairing of soft pink petals & vanilla chiffon icing.  Key Fragrance Notes: Sparkling Red Pear, Vanilla Orchid and Whipped Chiffon Musk."  I hated this fragrance when it first came out, I tried the perfume on and it was so sweet that it turned on my skin.  I cannot wear these sweet fruity-floral scents, they either get much too sweet to handle or go sour, this one went the sweet route and I went on my merry way past this scent.  I stayed away from this fragrance for quite a long time but last holiday I received some small bottles of it and decided to re-try the products.  I got the Shower Gel and Body Lotion and I discovered that I really like the body products in this fragrance, it is light floral on my skin with just hints of sweetness.  This scent is just enough to be noticeable and I went through my small sizes very quickly and will be buying those products in the full sizes to use all spring.  The shower Gel is more fruity than the lotion, I smelled the pear the most but in the lotion, I smell the florals and the vanilla.
Sometimes first impressions need to be re-visisted...

LUSH Bath Bomb in Pink - "Inspired by the delightful Audrey Hepburn, Pink is sophisticated, sexy, elegant, and witty. Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Collide - "A vivacious nail varnish.  Leave your mark with bold, rich, vibrant colors that stand out. Make a statement and talk with your hands!"  Collide is a "bright neon pink with a satin finish" and matches the NARS Schiap Lipstick almost perfectly and I wear the two shades together all spring and summer.  Illamasqua's Nail Varnish formula is one of the best nail polishes on the market, the formula lasts several days with only minor tip wear and wears glassy without an extra top coat.  I will start using this shade in pedicures as soon as it begins to get warm out and then follow with the matching manicure.  This is shade that I wore the most last summer and I am willing to bet that the same will hold true for this year!

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Flirty Honey - "A glossy, ultra-light lipstick.  Not quite a gloss, and not quite a lipstick, this transparent formula merges with the unique, natural tone of your lips to create a look that's all your own. Its sheer, emollient-rich formula glides on for easy layering."  Flirty Honey is one the shades that was released in early 2012 when Clinique decided to expand the Almost Lipstick range and release a series of shades in this formula.  Flirty Honey is a "sheer bright rose" that delivers a sheer rose look to the lips.  This shade is brighter than many traditional rose hues and is perfect against pale skin or medium skin, it creates a subtle pink lip that is an easy way to ease more into a bright lip look.  Another aspect of these lip glosses that I love is that this formula is very hydrating and is perfect for use in the winter and early spring when I am still battling chapped lips.

Most Wanted February 2013

February is one of my least favorite months of the year, I hate the end of the winter blahs and my least favorite holiday appears in this month.  I have to do lots of beauty and fashion shopping this month to combat the winter blahs.  At least all the spring collections are now at the counters and every clothing store has new items for me to shop for.  I have been crafting my spring style on Pinterest over the past few weeks and now it is time for me to start shopping and putting the pieces together. 

This will be a big beauty month too...I will be doing my Theme Week on Skincare Ingredients this month (Tarte's Pure Maracuja Oil changed my beauty routine around last month and I pushed the Theme Week off until I can properly test and try all the products that I bought for it).  I also want to do a Theme Week around my favorite products for Valentine's Day, along with more spring collections and some new fragrances.  We have lots to pack into the next 28 days!

Of course I will want a huge order from Archie's Girls, I am looking at these four products as my initial purchase and I know that I will purchase a few more pieces from the collection when I see them at the counter (and after at least one restock of the collection).  Illamasqua's Nail Varnish in Raindrops is still backordered and out of stock so I added to my list for this month, I have been looking at it for two weeks now and will keep waiting until I can get my hands on a bottle.

This month will be a big color month for me, I have lots of skincare products right now and am not adding any more to my collection right now and the same holds for body products.  I want all kinds of new color products for spring and we will see what next month holds!
