Clinique Holiday 2012 Collection - Party Red Lips

The holiday collection from Clinique is very small but it looks like the pieces inside of it will be ones that I fall madly in love with and that I will want within minutes of finishing up this post!  This collection's name just speaks for itself - Party Red Lips!!  I love red lips and everyone that reads this blog knows how much I love to wear a matte red lip look and that I tend to collect red lip products from almost every single brand out there.  I don't currently own any full pigment reds from Clinique and I am very excited to see what this brand offers.  Lately I have been buying more skincare products from this company but I am more than happy to add some color products to my bag the next time that I go to the counter.  I have been using the berry hues in my Almost Lipstick and they are fast becoming some of my favorite lip shades, I hope that more shades in this product keep coming out over the next few seasons...

This collection contains only lip products and shows us how to use all different Clinique products to help create multiple party ready lip looks.  The last products that I should be purchasing are lipsticks and lip glosses but I know that I will find a few items that I can't resist from this holiday collection.  "Three ways to create a festive new lip look with dazzling shades of red."

Here are the three red lip looks from Clinique!

Cherry Red - Slip it on when you're feeling flirty, or need a pop of pretty colour to brighten your look.  Line and fill in the lips with liner, then apply Chubby Stick.  To amp up the shine, dab Long Last Glosswear in the center of your lower lip.
- Long Last Glosswear in Juicy Apple - Lip gloss juiced up with 8 hours of lasting shine. Spends every minute comforting lips. In 18 glistening shades from sheer to full intensity. Moisture makes each one even more mouth-watering. Welcome to our juice bar.  Juicy Apple is a sheer red punch with a cream finish.
- Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Color Balm in Mightiest Maraschino - Tempt lips with a soft cushion of colour that's not quite sheer, not quite opaque-just the perfect happy medium. Loaded with mango and shea butters so lips feel comfortably soft and smooth. Eight vibrant shades in all.  Mightiest Maraschino is a deep sheer red with a cream finish.
- Quickliner for Lip in Rich Red - All-day lip liner. Use to line and define lips or smooth all over lips before lipstick application for extended wear. Non-drying formula helps keep lipstick in place. Prevents lipstick from feathering and bleeding. No sharpening required.  Rich Red is a true bright red.

Deep Red - Chic with jeans, glamourous with a little black dress - its versatility makes it timeless.  Line lip edges with soft dashes.  Apply Lipstick with Lip Brush, blending it gently for a rich coat of color.
- Quickliner for Lips in Tawny Tulip - All-day lip liner. Use to line and define lips or smooth all over lips before lipstick application for extended wear. Non-drying formula helps keep lipstick in place. Prevents lipstick from feathering and bleeding. No sharpening required.  Tawny Tulip is a tawnied brick red.
- Lip Brush - The professional way to shape and fill in lips. Retractable brush distributes colour evenly. Handle provides optimum control. Ideal for precise definition and coverage. Unique antibacterial technology helps ensure the highest level of hygiene.
- Different Lipstick in Angel Red - Different because of its smooth, comfortable feel. Moderate coverage in a remarkable range of shades, from cream to pearl. Every one packed with rich emollients.  Angel Red is a sheer blackened red with a cream finish.

Red Violet - If you love pinks and violets, this shade will give you the red lip look while staying in your comfort zone.  Apply liner all over lips, lining first then filling in completely.  Top with Almost Lipstick for a glossy finish.
- Quickliner for Lips in Crushed Berry - All-day lip liner. Use to line and define lips or smooth all over lips before lipstick application for extended wear. Non-drying formula helps keep lipstick in place. Prevents lipstick from feathering and bleeding. No sharpening required.  Crushed Berry is a intense pink/violet.
- Almost Lipstick in Luscious Honey - Transparent pigment merges with the unique, natural tone of your lips to create something wonderful and yours alone. Sheer, glossy. Emollient-rich and very lightweight.  Luscious Honey is a sheer reddish-pink with a cream finish.

My favorite look is the Cherry Red, we all knew that would be and now I want to start collecting some new lip products from Clinique.  My choices from Cherry Red are the Lip Gloss in Juicy Apple and the new formula of the Chubby Stick in Mightiest Maraschino.  I have not yet tried this product however I had a Chubby Stick lip product from them in high school and I used it down to the very last nub...it was a great product so I imagine that I will like this formula as well.

The Deep Red is my second favorite of the look, I want the Different Lipstick in Angel Red.  This sheer deep red will be a great way to wear red lips in my everyday professional makeup look.  I have been using MAC's Ladybug for the look right now but I wouldn't mind having another shade to work with in the morning.  The last item that I want from this overall collection is the Almost Lipstick in Luscious Honey from the Red Violet look.  I love Almost Lipsticks and want to add another shade to my collection.

I really like this little collection but only because I really love red lips.  I could see this collection not being quite as exciting if your tastes in makeup are very different from mine...

Clarins Holiday 2012 Collection - Odyssey

We are now really coming to the end of the holiday collections and I am ready for spring!  At this point, I am not buying any new makeup for the rest of the season since I will be going crazy for the spring collections as soon as they begin releasing in early January.  Right now, I am mostly spencing my money on skincare products as my skin is the worst in the winter months.  I have enough perfumes and color products to last me through the rest of the winter and I have a salon appointment next week to stock up on my favorite haircare products.  So at this point, I am pretty mentally finished with the holidays and any makeup for the winter months.  I still have a few holiday collections but at this point, I am only looking for products and shades that I know that I will be using throughout the whole year and will be more classic and seasonless.  Clarins often has great shades so this is one of the few holiday collections that I am actually still excited to look at!

The newest holiday collection from Clarins is called Odyssey and it contains all shades of deep bronzes and golds.  I am expecting some great eye makeup from this collection however I am expecting very little from the face and lip shades.  On first glance, I can already see that the model has a much warmer skintone than I do and therefore the face and lip products are not going to be very flattering for me...

The Clarins website provides a full description of the overall collection and then of all the products contained in it.  "Clarins’ shimmering, lightweight pressed powder brings a goddess glow to face, neck and décolleté. Matte gold medallion compact—with engraved edges, scrolls and golden mother-of-pearl—is the must-have holiday accessory for all skin tones."  The last item that I need is a product that is too pretty for me to use but I know that I am going to really love this...

Here is the Odyssey collection!

Odyssey Face Palette - Clarins’ shimmering, lightweight pressed powder brings a goddess glow to face, neck and décolleté. Matte gold medallion compact—with engraved edges, scrolls and golden mother-of-pearl—is the must-have holiday accessory for all skin tones.  Clarin’s “Light Optimizing +” complex instantly captures, amplifies and diffuses the light—visibly reducing the appearance of lines and imperfections for an even, radiant result. Our exclusive Plant Micropatch maintains hydration, comfort and a soft skin texture. White Tea extract delivers powerful anti-pollution protection.

Eye Quartet Mineral Palette - ghly concentrated in mineral pigments, these eye shadows light up all eyes. Their wet and dry texture is extremely soft on application. Easy to blend and shade, their colours are both subtle and even. Harmonies of satin and iridescent shades offer a variety of effects. For a superb, long-lasting make-up result.  An anti-pollution active ingredient preserves the fragile skin of the eyelids. It also protects them from harmful free radicals.
- Odyssey - eye shadows in bronze, beige, and taupe are paired with a creamy golden bronze highlighter

Instant Definition Mascara - A dual-purpose, ultra-volume, intense colour mascara with a rich formula that enhances the beauty of all types of lashes.  A complex of red and brown algae extracts rich in minerals: protects, restructures and reinforces lashes. Glycoproteins: coat lashes, restore body and shine.
- Black - deep rich black

Gloss Prodige Lip Gloss - Lip-plumping formula delivers intense colour, mirror-like shine and long-lasting hold. Leaves lips soft, smooth and fuller looking. Available in 8 fashion-perfect shades: Chocolate, Nude, Rose, Candy, Grenadine, Raspberry, Blackberry, Papaya.  The Suprashine Colour complex : delivers intense, glossy color.  Maxi-Lip® peptide : stimulates production of natural collagen and hyaluronic acid for fuller-looking lips.  Radiance-boosting pearls: optimize the reflection of light on lips.  Raspberry seed oil: nourishes lips, leaving them feeling soft and supple.
- Chocolate - deep sheer brown with gold shimmer

I can already rule out the lip gloss shade from this collection, the formula sounds great but I will need to try it in a totally different shade than the one that is featured in this collection.  I will try one of these out in a pink or berry shade the next time that I visit my closest counter.  I am on the fence about the highligher face palette, this product is beautiful and I would love to own it but I doubt that I would ever really use it.  I think that it looks slightly too warm for my skintone and won't be very flattering.  Normally, this would be a big reason for me not to buy it but I just love the packagin so much that I would use it as a compact...I think that I will just have to say no on this one and go after the eye makeup palette.

The eye makeup palette is one product that I really want from this collection, I am not all about the mineral formulas in this product but I love the shades contained it.  I know that I have all of these shades in my collection at least twice or three times over but I love them so much and I know that I would use them all the time.  This is a great chpice for me and one that I know that I would use throughout the rest of the winter months and then well into the spring and summer months.  This is one of the last pieces of holiday makeup items that I will try to find.  I am betting that it will be harder to find but this collection released a bit later than the rest of the holiday collections so I still hold a bit of hope aside that I can still get my hands on this palette.

We have less than five collections left and we will finish them up pretty soon and then I am getting ready to head into the spring months!

Clinique Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser

I have been talking about face creams for the past few weeks and have been trying to purchase products that will help to reduce how dry and red my face gets this time of the year.  In addition to skin creams, I am also investigating new face washes.  I have finally run out of my last tube of C.O. Bigelow face wash and I decided that I wanted to try something different this time around (I have gone through three tubes of this wash and I need to see what else is out there).  I wanted to try a product that would be creamy and soothing and initially was considering purchasing a tube of the cream cleanser from Caudalie again.  But based on my current good luck with Clinique skincare products, I decided to try one of their face cleansers out.  I don't have any recent memories of using face washes from Clinique and I am not totally sure if I have used any of their face washes before but I wanted to give it a go this time around.

I have been interested in the Redness Solutions line of face products from this company ever since I first heard about it.  My skin is so dry and red in the winter months and I wanted a product that would not strip my skin and make the look and feel of it even worse.  I went with a cream cleanser formula, a gel or a foam would be a bit too risky this time of the year and I am not about starting the winter with bad skin.

I have been using the Clinique Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser for the past week and am beginning to finally see a very small bit of difference in my skin.  I know that face washes will not change my life but I was expecting a bit more from this formula (knowing much Clinique puts into their skincare products and how well I tend to do with their treatments and moisturizers).  First we will look at how the product is described on the Sephora website and then we will delve into how it has been working for me.

"An extra-gentle cleanser for redness-prone skin.  This extra-gentle, non-drying cream-gel helps calm visible redness and irritation while melting away makeup and impurities. It leaves skin clean feeling comforted.  Helps maintain skin's moisture balance. For all skin types."

My issues with this product are more with the promised results since a face wash is not designed to reduce facial redness, any product that is rinsed off will not have a lasting effect to the skin and I think that the description needs to be edited.  What does this product do well?  It is a very thick cream cleanser with no foaming action at all.  It effectively removes makeup and doesn't contain any ingredients that strip my skin or any perfumes that can add to irritation.  Realistically, this cleanser is an effective part of a hydrating and redness reducing skincare regime but it is not a product that can stand on its own against redness.

If this product was described as an effective first step of a redness reducing regime that sets skin up to reap the benefits of treatment products, I would be all about this product.  I was a bit disappointed with the description since this will upset many people who are looking to see major results from this product.  This product fully washes off my face makeup (I am not even trying it on my eye makeup - separate eye makeup remover is needed for me!) and therefore I do not need to use any kind of toner to get the last bit of makeup residue off and therefore I don't need to use a drying product on my skin during cleansing.

The texture of this product was slightly off putting the first time that I used it and I had to use it a few times to get the correct amount needed figured out.  The first time, I used way too much and the second time I used much too little.  I figured out that I need a blob about the size of an M and M (slightly more face wash than I typically use) and this was enough to cover my whole face and not be wasting product.

Overall, I like this face wash and I don't regret buying it at all, it helps to clean my skin without stripping it and sets it up for a face serum and the rest of my skincare regime.  I want to clearly state that this product doesn't reduce redness and face cleansers are not designed to work this way.  However it will not strip skin and will eliminate the use of a toner to remove makeup.  I don't see any reason that I wouldn't buy this product again but I don't think that I can consider it one of the best washes that I have ever used.

Tarte Call of the Wild Amazonian Clay 8 Shadow Collector's Palette

I have been doing lots of shopping on the Sephora website lately and I am trying to spend the majority of time looking for gifts for other people and not adding too many more products to my collection.  I keep finding more gifts that I want to unwrap myself on Christmas morning and I am not getting quite as much shopping for others done as I am trying to.  I have gotten a pretty slow start to my gift shopping and I need to change that as we are heading into the beginning of December...

However this post is about another top pick of the gifts that I want for myself!  We already looked at my favorite gift of the whole season, that amazing Lorac gift set and today I have found a Tarte Amazonian Clay palette that I want to add to my collection.  To be fair, this would also make a great gift for anyone on your list who loves makeup or needs a bit of a boost to her current makeup look.  Tarate has become one of my favorite color brands over the past year and a half and I continue to be excited about and impressed by every single product that I buy from this company.  This is truely one of the best quality line of makeup products that are sold at Sephora!

This palette that I am looking at for myself is named the Call of the Wild Amazonian Clay 8 Shadow Collector's Palette and the shadow contains in this palette are very versatile and I can see them working very well with many different types of makeup looks.  This is a palette that will work for multiple eye colors and skin tones and these are among the reasons that I think that this will be a great gift to give to a friend or to keep for yourself.

So far I have only seen this palette on the Sephora website so that is where my information is coming from.  "A fearless and sophisticated eye shadow palette featuring nature’s most perfect ingredient: Amazonian clay.   Each Amazonian clay eye shadow delivers the perfect amount of creamy matte perfection or subtle shimmer while Amazonian clay works to nourish lids, reduce surface oil, and improve overall texture for easy application and better, longer, truer wear. Everything you need to create a complete eye look that is sleek, sexy, wild, or mild is inside including a full-size mirror for flawless application."

The eye shadow shades are:

- Meow - medium bronze shimmer
- Jungle - deep matte brown
- Instinct - pale matte champagne
- Wild - deep brown shimmer
- Primal - medium matte slate gray
- Roar - deep matte navy
- Call - medium matte peach
- Lynx - medium matte taupe

I think that this might be Tarte's answer to Urban Decay's top selling Nake palette line.  The shades look like most of them would be best for colored eyes and could all be mixed together to create all kinds of great neutral eye looks.  I will admit that I already own a lot of shades that are similar to these but I know that I will use there so much that it is worth me ordering this palette.  This palette is already out of stock at Sephora and so I am hoping that it comes back in stock in time for me to order it for the holidays!

Zoya Holiday 2012 Collection - Ornate

I am rapidly coming to the end of the holiday collections and December is starting very soon...I can hardly believe that time has gone so fast since I start holiday collections in the beginning of October.  Zoya's Ornate collection is the last of the nail polish collections that I will be looking at until the spring collections begin to release.  At this point, I can't buy any more bottles of polish until I can find a new place to store my bottles, I am 100% maxed out with my current container and bottles are overflowing from it every single time that I try and close it.  I am almost hoping that I don't really love anything from this collection since I cannot buy any more bottles.

However, on first glance, I can already see some wonderful jewel tones in this small polish collection and I will have to make some hard decisions on either storage or parting with a few current bottles if I decide that I must have a couple shades from Zoya.  Maybe it is time to start browsing the Bed Bath and Beyond website for some new ways to store items...

"Add dazzle to your nails this holiday winter season with the Zoya Ornate Nail Polish Collection, a combination of six liquid metals (foil finish), one silver holographic / bar glitter and three holographic crystal beauties. Each with a dynamic, long-wearing, toxin-free personality of her own. Perfect when paired together to create modern French manicures as seen during the runway shows of fashion week. Try Storm with a Ziv tip as shown on our model for an ultra stylish look!"  Oh this will be a hard collection of shades to ignore for the holidays and then the winter months!

The Ornate collection from Zoya!

Nail Polish in Ziv - Zoya Nail Polish in Ziv can be best described as a full coverage, yellow-toned metallic gold foil with silver highlights and warm gold flake glitter accents. Try this for an extremely shiny, reflective, and eye-catching luxe gold nail. Imagine Zoya Trixie in gold.

Nail Polish in Storm - Zoya Nail Polish in Storm can be best described as a full coverage, holiday black with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter. Storm is elegant, powerful and versatile - try it as a french tip over Aurora or Blaze!

Nail Polish in Aurora - Zoya Nail Polish in Aurora can be best described as a full coverage, medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter. The rainbow holographic sparkle turns this plum purple into something truly captivating.

Nail Polish in Logan - Zoya Nail Polish in Logan can be best described as a full coverage, yellow-toned forest green with dense, foil-like yellow-gold and blue-green duochrome shimmer! Rich color, a sparkling finish and a subtle duochrome effect make this green very special. Pair it with a Zoya Ziv (gold) tip for an extra dash of holiday flare!

Nail Polish in Blaze - Zoya Nail Polish in Blaze can be best described as a full coverage, cool-toned medium mulberry red with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter. The multidimensional holographic glitter adds complexity and depth to this vampy red.

I am thinking that it is time to just begin shopping for a much bigger container for my polishes...I am not going to stop buying new bottles any time soon and I will want a few shades from this collection.  My favorite shade and the one that I want the most from this collection is the pictured shade, Storm.  I don't own any black shades and I love this shade.  This is a must own for me and it actually will fill a hole in my huge polish collection.

I really own need that one shade from this collection but of course I want more than just one shade!  My second favorite shade is Logan, I love this shimmering deep green foil and this shade will fill another hole in my nail polish collection and I really love this shade.  The last shade that I really love is the gold foil shade, Ziv.  This one will be the best to create the French or Accent manicure with this collection and I have been using a silver foil from China Glaze to create this look already.  I would use this gold shade a lot and it is very worth me buying a bottle of this shade.

Just a few more holiday collections left and I must say that I am already excited to start the spring collections!

Sephora Collection Holiday 2012 Collection - The Cinderella Collectiona

I rarely use or blog about color items from the Sephora brand, I have only recently begun using some of their skincare items and while I really like what I have used so far, I haven't yet really worked with any of their color products.  I get too distracted by NARS every single that I go in the store that I haven't really spent much time visiting this counters, also the placement of it in my Sephora store is pretty hidden and I find it way too easy to simply walk right by it (I wonder if it like this in every single store...).  The only reason that their holiday collection caught my eye is that this company teamed up with Disney to create a series of gifts and palettes that are worthy of any princess.

I really love a lot of movies and products from Disney and Cinderella was a favorite movie of mine when I was a little girl.  I know that I must have dreamed of dressing up in a ball gown and having a Fairy Godmother enough times when I was a child and I fully believe that the fantasty never ends.  Now I am more likely to dream about getting dressed up in a Marchesa gown and going to a Met Gala but the same ideal still holds in this fantasy.  It is no wonder that this collection gots lots of coverage in the massive Sephora Holiday Gift catalogue...

She has inspired this collection with words of wisdom about life, love and making your dreams come true. Her voice is your voice. Her confidence is your confidence. I love this collection and I want to order everything...considering that I have really used the color products from Sephora Collection I should try and temper my online shopping spree!  I love the huge Collectors Set in this collection, buying this would pretty much be me ordering almost every single thing in the collection, I should at least buy this at the store so that I can play with the products before I buy such a large set.

With the exception of the large Collector's Set, there are a few items in this collection that would simply make my holiday season to own.  My favorite item of the collection is already sold out but I am hopeful that I can find it in the store or that it will come back in stock soon.  The Compact Mirror is lovely and I would love to pull it out for touch ups, it is so unique and I love the clock design on the cover of it.  The perfume also holds much potential for me, it contains Tuberose and Jasmine, two of my favorite fragrance notes.  I guess I should just visit the store and try this one out soon while I am playing with the color products.  I don't need the special Swarovski edition but I really, really, really would love to see it sitting in a prime spot of my dresser.

Looking at the color products...  I am mostly interested in the Eye Shadow Palette (the regular edition, the special edition will not be seen when it lives in my train case).  I have not used any kind of eye shadow from this company so I have no idea what to expect on terms of texture and pigmentation so I need to try this in the store first but I am just so hopeful that they work out as well as I am hoping that they do.  The lip set doesn't really do anything for me so I will skip over this one.  The Nail Polish set is another favorite of mine and I am so excited to see a Sephora Nail Polish collection that actually contains limited edition shades for the holidays.  And the bottles are little - a fact that excited me even more!

This might be one of my favorite gift collections for this whole season...I loved MAC's Venomous Villians and now I love the Sephora and Disney Cinderella Collection!

Kate Walsh Boyfriend

Kate Walsh Boyfriend is one of the most hyped perfumes on the market today and it has remained a top seller at Sephora ever since it first released.  I was interested right away when I first read about it but then wasn't quite as in love with it when I tried it out at the store, it was just too woody and musky for my tastes at that time.  I didn't buy it at that time and then pretty much forgot about it until it was offered as a sample on one of my many Sephora orders.  I decided to try it out again and see it I liked it a bit more when I had the time to really wear the fragrance.  I don't know if the formula has changed or if my tastes have changed a bit but this time around I fell in love with it after wearing it for a day and have already gone through my sample and ordered the Rollerball form of it from Sephora.

Why is Boyfriend such a unique fragrance?  This fragrance was created by Kate Walsh in order for her to smell like her boyfriend's colonge after he left.  "You don't need a boyfriend to have Boyfriend, the new fragrance created by "Private Practice" star Kate Walsh. Inspired by the longing felt for her boyfriend's warm scent, Boyfriend combines muguet, dark plum, myrrh, and night blooming jasmine to create a seductive floral fragrance. Topped off with amber and woody musk, this intoxicating scent includes all the notes that make your eyes roll—just like him.", states the Sephora website when they introduce this collection.  Boyfriend was the first fragrance in the Boyfriend collection and Billionaire Boyfriend was released soon after (I have tried and reviewed that fragrance earlier in the fall).

The actual description of this fragrance (from Sephora), "She inhales his shirt, taking in the scent of the man she loves. It lingers on her clothes, her sheets, her hair—all over. Imprinted on her body and in her mind, it radiates within her, filling her with feelings of warmth and desire.  Actress Kate Walsh wanted to capture the scent of a guy on a girl: a man's cologne mixed with perfume, the smell that lingers on the skin. This fragrance evokes memories of that time after he has left for the day—when she gently awakes in a bed that's still warmly redolent of "boyfriend."  An alluring balance of vanilla, jasmine blossoms, and an accord of amber is set against the sensual scents of a man, including a light musk and a shimmer of fresh woods."

The notes of the fragrance are: Dark Plum, Myrrh, Night Blooming Jasmine, Benzoin Tears, Skin Musk, Golden Amber, Vanilla Woods.
This is by far one of the most unique fragrances on the market and I can see why it was an instant success and is still very hyped up.  The first time that I smelled this all I got was wood and amber and it was way too masculine for me, however now it seems to develop differently when I am using it.  The plum comes out first and then the fragrance settles into a combination of jasmine, amber, and a little bit of wood on my skin.  This fragrance continues to change throughout the day and settles more into the amber as time goes on.

The staying power on this fragrance is amazingly long, I put this on in the morning and it is still hanging around when I go to shower at night.  I know that jasmine works very well with my skin chemistry and that is one big reason that this fragrance hangs around so long on me.  This is definitely a fragrance that I would wear only in the cool weather, it is very strong on me and I have to use it sparingly.  I do wonder if I first smelled this fragrance in the warmer weather because that could easily explain why I disliked it so much in the beginning.

This is one of the most unique fragrances that I own and I know that I will be wearing this for the next few months.  This is currnetly one of the items that I reach for the most now that my rollerball has arrived from Sephora.  I will be buying the full sized perfume bottle next fall (I should have some room on my dresser by then...hopefully) and I am also excited to try out the body products the next time that I go to Sephora.

Shu Uemura Holiday 2012 Collection - Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura

The holiday collection from Shu Uemura is another one of the most hyped collections of this season, this collection was designed with famed designed Karl Lagerfeld and has been featured in nearly every single beauty magazine in their November and December issues.  I got very excited about this collection the second that I saw one product from it in Allure.  I still continue to grumble about Estee Lauder dropping this brand from their American line up but I am used to having to order the products that I love the most from Japan.  I haven't loved the last few of their seasonal collections but I think that this collection will change the losing streak that this company has been on for me over the past few months!

The packaging on these palettes and single products are so lovely that they barely even need to be wrapped up in order to give as gifts.  Karl Lagerfeld was very active in designing the packaging and I know that many ladies will want these products just for packaging.  I am just hoping that the formulas and shades inside are just as good as the outside.  From Shu Uemura, "Once upon a time, while the town was being decorated for Christmas with ornaments a small miracle took place in the atelier of Karl Lagerfeld’s castle.“mon shu girl” escaped from his sketchbook - a “dessin” come to life! Spreading colorful times and holiday sparkle to girls around the world. mon shu girl dons Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic look and awakens the sleeping beauty that lies deep within. this holiday season, shu uemura and Karl Lagerfeld send a miracle of color and beauty that is a gift for every girl."  I am so excited right now and it is time to start looking at all the products in this magical collection!

Is is bad that the first thing that I am attracted to is the red lipstick from this collection?!  It continues to amaze me sometimes that I can look at all kinds of palettes and limited edition sets and I still want the red lipstick.  I haven't been wearing red lipstick as much as I would like to lately so perhaps that is why I am so attracted to new shades of it.  I just hesitate to order this shade, it appears pretty wamr based on the photo on the website and I hate to have to return this to Japan if I don't like the shade.  I think that I will hold off on this lipstick this time around...

The product that I am the most likely to order is the Prestigious Bordeaux Eye and Cheek Palette, this contains a great series of bronzes for the eyes and I will use all of the shades inside of it.  I love the packaging and I have to say that I can't be sure that I would be as in love with this palette if the packaging wasn't as pretty.  But I just really want this set and I will try to order it before it sells out.

The last two products that I really want in this collection is the Nail Colors in Karl Black and Shu Shu Red.  I love both of these shades and I would wear them for the rest of the holiday season and then all through the winter.

I love the packaging on this collection but I just find many Shu shades and products to be choices that won't really work for my skin.  Shu is made for Asian skin, tones that are totally opposite of mine and I can't pull off any of the fake eyelashes.  This company has been very hit or miss for me lately, the hits are huge but the misses are just as huge...

Bobbi Brown Holiday 2012 Collection - Caviar and Oyster

Thanksgiving is this week and that means that the holidays are really here and the parties will be beginning soon.  I don't have an major plans yet that I will need to buy new makeup and products for (finals week doesn't need new eyeliner!) but I am hopeful that I have to do some holiday makeup shopping very soon.  The Bobbi Brown counter holds a special allure for me every single time that I visit Macy*s and I am very excited to see that they have released their holiday color collection.  I loved their Desert Twilight collection for the fall months and now I really want to see what comes out for the holidays, Bobbi Brown is one of the best overall makeup collections.  This line contains products and shades for everyone and the quality is almost always impeccable.  I would love to buy more from this brand than I already do and I plan to start getting involved with their skincare line in the near future too.

The new holiday collection is named Caviar and Oyster.  This is the holiday color collection, a separate gift collection was released however I am much more interested in the individual products at the moment.  I have already began to order some gifts for my friends from Sephora and I am more looking for items for myself now, I am about halfway done with my gift shopping and don't really need to find more gift sets and palettes at the moment.  Caviar and Oyster might be one of the best holiday color collections that I have seen so far this season and it will be one of my favorites.

Caviar and Oyster is described as "Tough Luxe" and it contains tons of silvers, charcoals, and foils for the eyes.  The lips are going to be covered in shades of shimmering lip glosses and I see that the new nail polish product will be back for this collection.  The nail polish is a newer product for this company and I am very happy that I am seeing it come out again in this collection, I would love another nail polish brand to collect even though I really don't need one.

The newest from Bobbi Brown!

Caviar and Oyster Palette - rong and smokey or soft and pretty? There's no need to choose with Bobbi's beautifully-edited selection. Featuring eight shadows and a luminescent skin enhancer, this mirrored palette makes it easy to create a multitude of party and special occasion looks. - Metallic Eye Shadow in Sandy Pearl - silver mauve

Wear alone or on top of your favorite Bobbi Brown lipstick.

Shimmer Lip Gloss - Bobbi has sized up all her glosses to give you an extra dose of shine. Shimmer Lip Gloss offers beautiful, non-sticky shine with a touch of iridescence and is perfect on its own or over your favorite lipstick. Formulated with Aloe Extract to soothe and soften lips; Vitamins C and E for anti-oxidant protection; and Jojoba and Avocado Oils to moisturize lips.

- Black Pearl - dusty mauve

High Shimmer Lip Gloss - Bobbi's new lip gloss combines gorgeous, light-catching shimmer with lasting, non-sticky shine. Made with fine pearls and clear pigments, High Shimmer Lip Gloss stays color-true and gives lips beautiful, brilliant dimension. Plus it's enriched with emollients and Vitamins C and E to moisturize, condition and protect lips, so they feel as good as they look. Whether you wear it on its own or on top of your favorite Lip Color, the new tapered applicator lets you apply it like a pro.
- Oyster - iridescent pink shimmer
- Uber Suede - midtone golden beige

I love this collection, this is up there with my favorite five collections of these season.  My favorite piece of this collection is the Caviar and Oyster Palette, this contains all kinds of shades that will help me create a shimmering smoky eye and I will use this palette for any holiday party that I am invited to and then for the rest of the winter months, this might be one of the single best products that has come out this season.  This palette is reason enough for me to visit the counter, I just hope that it is still in stock by the time that I get there (tomorrow is Black Friday and I am not venturing to the mall for a makeup palette).

I also love many of the lip glosses in this collection.  My favorite is the Brightening Lip Gloss in Moonlight Pearl, this shimmering pink lilac is very unique and I own nothing like it in my collection.  This is one of those shades that can only really be worn by ladies with pale, cool skin and since that would be perfect for me, I will be buying this lip gloss.  I also want to buy the Shimmer Lip Gloss in Pink Oyster, this neutral pink shimmer will be a great shade for me for every season and I will wear it will all kinds of makeup looks.  Lastly, I want the Oyster lip gloss from the High Shimmer Lip Gloss line.  This iridescent pink shimmer will be lovely for dressing up.  All of these lip glosses will work in the winter months and then will still be perfect all through the spring months and into the summer.  Love this collection!

Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2

As I stated several days ago, I have already began to get my skincare regime for the winter started and have been checking out and trying out some new products.  Toners are not a product that I typcially use and the only reason that I am trying this one from Clinique is that I received it in the last Clinique that I got.  This toner is aimed at dry skin types and therefore this might be the only toner that would work for my skin types.  Typically, toners only make my skin drier and feel worse than ever before and I can't use them at any point in the year.  I can only use them for the hottest and most humid days during the summer and even then I only use it to get any excess makeup off at night.  For me, a toner is only a product that I would use to get any excess makeup residue off, I don't use it to help refine pores or to get an extra deep clean.  Toner is one of the few skincare products that just does nothing for me.

As I stated above, if any formula will work for me, then it will be a formula from Clinique and the one that is targeted for dry skin.  Clarifying Lotion 2 is the product that I received in the gift with purchase that contained items recommended for dry skin.  I haven't used all three pieces of the Clinique 3-Step Skincare regime at the same time, I have used the moisturizers by themselves and with other products and I have never tried any of the cleansers that fall into this collection.  I have always liked the hydrators that I have gotten from Clinique and any of the treatments that I have purchased from this company too.  I have to say that Clinique is one of my favorite lines for skincare products and has one of the most consistent product ranges.

The Clarifying Lotion 2 is made to refine the texture of skin and get any makeup residue off while not overdrying skin.  "A gentle, oil-free exfoliating lotion for dry or combination skin.  This second step in Clinique's 3-Step Skin Care System is a true difference-maker for great skin. Developed by Clinique's dermatologists, the smoothing formula whisks away flakes and refines pores to reveal a clearer complexion. The cool, refreshing formula removes dead cells from the surface of the skin helping moisturizer and makeup to apply evenly."

The Sephora website suggests that this product can be used twice a day, I could not use this more than once a day and that is only when I really feel that I need it to get all my excess makeup off.  With the amount of foundation, primer, and concealer that I use almost every single day, I often wonder if I am able to get all of my makeup off every night.  I have considered purchasing a Clarisonic but I have read all kinds of reports from people who save it changed their lives and people who needed extreme treatments by a doctor because it messed their skin up so badly.  I keep putting this purchase off but toners just aren't doing it for my skin...

And neither did this toner!  I used it once a day after cleansing at night.  My skin was so tight and dry after using it that I needed to slap moisturizer on right away.  My skin actually hurt after I used this toner and now I know that my skin just cannot handle a toner.  If it can't handle a formula like this, I just give up on toners in general since this product is targeted for dry and sensitive skin...  I will be putting this product away until July and then I will give it another shot but this is not a product for me.

LORAC Eye Candy Full Face Collection

I have finally began my Christmas earlier this week and I have gone through the entire gift area of the Sephora website already.  I have ordered a few gifts for friends (and of course a few items that I needed for myself!) and I stumbled upon a gift set that I have decided is my absolute favorite gift of the entire holiday season.  At first I thought that some of my favorite gifts would come from the NARS and Andy Warhol collection and while I still really like the gifts that are offered with that collection, I have found an absolute favorite and it is from a brand that I rarely use.

My favorite gift is the Eye Candy Full Face Collection from Lorac, I do not believe that I own a piece of Lorac makeup and therefore I was really surprised at how quickly I fell in love with this set.  The Eye Candy Full Face Collection first caught my eye when I saw the packaging, it looks exactly like a Godiva chocolate box and I love those gold boxes so much that it drew me right to this set.  I was attracted to the box first and then I went to investigate what is contained in it.  I see eye shadow palettes, an eyeliner palette, and then cheek and lip palettes.  This is one of the few gifts that contains fantastic shades for every single.  For this reason, even though I know very little about Lorac products, this set is the one beauty set that I want to unwrap this season!

The set is available on the Sephora website and I believe that it is exclusive to this company.  "An exclusive holiday collection of six palettes all infused with ultra rich color and velvety smooth textures for creating the perfect face.  This season, satisfy your beauty cravings with LORAC’s Eye Candy Full Face Collection. Even better than a box of chocolates, this deluxe assortment of sweet, tempting treats contains a luxurious selection of fresh colors for eyes, cheeks, and lips that you simply can’t resist. Open the lavish gold box to reveal six faux “chocolate bar” palettes. The Eye Shadow Palettes, Cream Eye Liner Palette, and Cheek and Lip Tint Palette are all infused with ultra rich color and velvety smooth texture for a variety of eye-enticing looks. "

This set contains...

- Eye Shadow Palette in Ooh La La Vanilla (Nude Eye Shadow Palette), Caramel Love Affair (Golden Eye Shadow Palette), Tantilizing Cocoa (Bronze Eye Shadow Palette), Blackberry Truffle Seduction (Smoky Eye Shadow Palette)
- Cream Eye Liner Palette in Mesmerizing Dark Chocolate
- Cheek & Lip Tint Palette in Indulge in Berry Kisses

These eye palettes are all pretty similar, you will love them if you have colored eyes and collect shades like this.  I can't say that there is any one shade that I must have since I own a ton of neutral shadows from both of the Urban Decay Naked palettes but I would still get lots of use from all of these neutral and brown shades.  If you have brown eyes then this palette is not near as exciting as it is for me.  I am also excited to try all the rest of the makeup products in this set, I have not tried anything yet from Lorac and this set would be a great introduction to me for so many products in this brand.  All the eyeliner shades are dark browns and will perfectly complement all of the eye shadow shades in this set and then even more shades that I already own.

I actually think that I might be the most excited about the Cheek and Lip Tint palette, all of the shades are cool and all different shades of berries and I just love this palette.  This is the perfect palette for ladies with pale skin and cool undertones, pretty much this is the perfect palette for me.

The packaging was the reason that I was first attracted to this set however the wide variety of products and the wonderful shades are what took this set to the top of my gift list.  I really hope that I unwrap this gift this year and I am thinking that I will have to start playing around with more Lorac products!

OPI for Sephora Holiday 2012 Collection - Tinsel Town Collection

It looks like another trip to the Sephora Nail Bar will be in order very soon, the OPI for Sephora collection has released their holiday collection and I am so excited to see what these products and sets look like this year!  This was one of the best collections last holiday season and I loved both the sets and the single polishes that were offered.  I do remember being a bit disappointed in one of the largest sets, I expected it to contain all small bottles of the polishes from the holiday collection and it actually contained all small bottles of the some of the best selling shades from the traditional line up.  There wasn't anything wrong with the set, it contained some very nice shades but I was just really excited to buy a set that contained all of the holiday shades and I was very disappointed that I wasn't able to do this.  I hope that I will see a different type of set in this year's collection...

I get very excited for the nail polish collections that released sets containing many small polishes.  I know that for myself, I typically get about halfway through a traditional sized bottle of nail polish and then get sick of the shade and stop using it.  Several weeks later if I still haven't touched the bottle, then I end up throwing it away in order to make room for more polishes in my collection.  I feel bad almost every single time that I throw a traditional sized bottle away and that is why I would prefer to buy smaller sizes.  I don't feel quite as bad thowing away a very small bottle of polish since I am wasting less product and I will usually get almost 100% of the way through the bottle before I get sick of the shade.  I am really excited to see if this collection contains at leat one or two set that I will pick up.  I see two sets that contain a full range of shades in small bottles and I plan to buy at leat one of the sets!

The collection description is found on the Sephora website and talks about what inspired the Tinsel Town collection and what sets it apart from the rest of the holiday polish collections.  "'“This collection is inspired by the glamorous style and alluring mystique of Old Hollywood’s most elegant starlets,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive Vice President and Artistic Director. “Just like Greta Garbo and Audrey Hepburn so beautifully lit up the silver screen, the shades in Tinseltown will light up your nails and add instant glam, sparkle, and style to your look.”'  I love Audrey Hepburn and the mention of her in this collection description gets me instantly excited!

I see that the big sets are not the holiday shades again and that really started this collection off on the wrong foot for me, I know that I can't have everything but I would really just love to have a set of all kinds of small bottles of the pretty, festive shades that this collection releases every holiday.  I guess that I will be skipping over both of the huge sets this time around and just get the smaller sets that have the full size bottles.  I am semi-grumpy over this since I will eventually get sick of those shades too and end up throwing away some of the bottles when I am done with the shades.

My favorite piece from the collection is the Four Piece polish set, this contains four shades that I love from the Tinsel Town collection and I will use all four of these shades for the rest of the holiday and winter months.  I can also use these shades next fall since they are all lovely jewel tones.  I don't really need either of the Two Piece sets and I will skip over both of them too.  From the single shades, Ruby Without a Cause is the one single shade that I need, the others that I really like are all in the Four Piece Set.  The Jewelry Top Coats are really pretty but I only really need one of these since I wouldn't use it very often.  I would buy The Golden Age since it is gold and silver glitter and will be the most versatile of the shades.

Dior Holiday 2012 Collection - Grand Bal

One of the first holiday collections that we began to see hints of early last fall but hadn't yet been released with the earliest group is the Grand Bal collection from Dior.  The nail polishes from this collection were a very early hit with bloggers and the beauty industry in general, quickly being featured in many magazines and on The Zoe Report.  When I first saw these nail polishes, no mention was made of them being part of the upcoming holiday collection however they look very much like traditional holiday shades so I assumed that this was the collection that they would be coming out in.  These polishes are not the traditional Dior Vernis, theya re completely separate product called Diorific Vernis and I will have to se how the quality compares to the original.  The original formula was very high quality and had many fans in the industry so I am excited to see what this formula is like.

In addition to the new nail polishes, this collection does contain a full range of products for every facial feature.  I see a fantastic palette to start us off on the right foot, the Grand Bal palette looks as though I could fall in love with this product and like I will want it as soon I see it.  I also see a full range of lip products and shades and we all know how closely I will be looking at the red shades in this collection.

This collection is available right now on the Nordstrom website and I will be pulling all of my information and pictures from that website.  I am having some issues with the Dior website loading so I am not sure if any additional items are exclusive to the Dior website (in the past, multiple versions of the same collection have been available from all different sources and it is rather hard and costly to acquire every single piece of the collection - it is for major Dior lovers only!).  The collection description is, "Whimsical and playful masquerade balls embodied Christian Dior's love of surprise and elegance. Today, the House of Dior embodies that same sense of extravagant splendor with a golden holiday collection of limited edition items."

Wear as a finishing touch or a complete look. Incredible cuffs, exquisite chain bracelets, playful charms and delicate rings adorn you skin for an evening of true extravagance. The ultimate in luxury, Dior presents the perfect accessory for the Dior Grand Ball.

The Golden Tattoos are the most unique product in this collection, they are not practical at all but they would be so much fun for the right occasion.  I don't know that I will have a holiday party this season that I will be getting that dressed up for but they would be great if I had a black tie party or some other equally important event.  I guess that I will skip over these this time around but I just wish that I had a reason to justify them to myself.

I like many of the color products but I was expecting a more unique product and shade range, many of these shades have already come out from several companies this holiday and I don't really see any single product that makes me want to head right to the Dior counter.  I am a tad disappointed though I know that Dior products sell out very quickly and I have rarely been able to get most of the items that I really love.  The Rouge Diorific shade in the red shade is lovely and I would like to own it but I can't say that I must own it since it isn't very unique.  I do own a lot of red lipsticks and feel that I own several of the exact same shades but that barely stops me from ordering and buying more almost every single season.  I have seen a bunch of great reds this season (Lancome and Chanel) and I will be adding some more to my collection but I can't say that I need the one introduced in this collection.

The new version of Le Vernis is only calling my name because the bottle is just so pretty, I don't need any of these shades but I just love that bottle so much and have been admiring it since I first saw it about two months ago.  If I only buy one shade, the deep black hue will at least fill a whole in my collection since I don't own a shimmering black hue.  I guess this is the only shade that I really must own in the whole collection.  The Grand Bal palette is lovely and it is the only other product that I am really considering buying.  Being practical, I know that I will have to search for this product since I can see this being the first item to really sell out.

I don't know if I am getting a bit jaded with all the holiday collections after a month or if some of them really just aren't that great this year.  I like many of the collections but there hasn't been that many items that I am considering must haves this season.  I have never been very excited for holiday collections overall since I feel that they all look almost exactly alike or only contain gifts.  I am over half way through so we will see if my outlook changes over the next three or four weeks or if I should just begin looking forward to spring...

Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Cream

Winter is almost here and that means one major fact for me - I will end up buying a ton of new skincare items and will go through them like crazy.  Early last December, I ended up buying or ordering from Sephora almost every single weeek because I was running through skincare products like crazy and then I was finding that some of the ones that I bought just weren't hydrating enough for the winter and had to be put away until the spring months.  My goal is head this off at the pass this year and start picking up some new skincare items now, especially the heavy duy face creams that I always end up needing this time of the year and for the next three months.  I can already feel that my face is much drier than it was several weeks and is beginning to feel tight and dry right after I wash it.  And everyone who is reading this knows that it will only get worse in the upcoming weeks...

My first skincare purchase of the late fall/early winter months is the Lancome Bienfiar Multi-Vital SPF 30 Cream.  I first tried this product in a Sephora skincare sample bag and liked it enough to buy it the other week at the Lancome counter.  At first, I wasn't even sure what exactly this product was, the typing on the Sephora sample was very small and I couldn't make out if it was a SPF face cream or just a sunblock.  Once I first tried the product, I quickly figured out that it was a thick face cream that contained an SPF, it was much too thick for just an SPF and a product of this texture would be very hard to layer with another face cream.

The best product description is found on the Lancome website.  "Containing a complex of nurturing Vitamins E, B5 and CG plus high potency moisturization, this greaseless formula provides 24-hour hydration. Your skin will look its healthy best and feel touchably soft all day. With Broad Spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen and essential antioxidant protection, Bienfait Multi-Vital gives your skin what it needs to help fight the visible effects of environmental skin damage.  Results: Skin is hydrated, looks its healthy best, and feels touchably soft all day.  Normal to dry skin, even sensitive skin.  Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist-tested for safety.  Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation."

Anyone that has used French skincare before will have no problems understanding why this is a top selling face cream in that country.  To those who have not, I will provide a few more details.  This cream has a high SPF in it, higher than most that are available from major brands in the United States.  Most face creams don't really live up the SPF that is promised on the label, to achieve the full SPF benefits the product must be applied in a thick, even layer.  Most of use do not apply our face creams as thickly as they should be, especially those of us who layer foundation and concealer on yet too.  So if you use an SPF of 30, it is more at the 15 protection level and an SPF 15 is next to no protection.  Sorry to burst your bubbles everyone, but this is why I prefer to use separate sunscreen products for my face.

French women are also more likely to prefer very rich hydrating products and this face cream certinaly lives up to that standard.  I would only recommend this for the driest of skin types, this cream is so thick that I had to warm it in my hand before applying it to my face in order to get it to fully absorb and this product could be overdone very easily.  I wouldn't recommend this face cream for those with normal skin, however I see on the Lancome website that it is available in a lighter lotion formula, so all the benefits can still be reaped with a lighter formula.

This cream contains many anti-oxidant protection benefits, I wouldn't list this as a solely anti-aging moisturizer.  It has the potential to help correct some of the signs of anging, however it is most powerful in preventing the signs and helping to brighten the overall complexion.  The vitamins and anti-oxidants helped to make my skin look a bit brighter, one of my favorite aspects of it when I first tried out my deluxe sample and that caused me to purchase the acutal product, my skin takes on a grayish pallor during the winter months and I will try any product that promises me some kind of brightening benefits.  The Vitamins E and B5 are mostly responsible for these benefits and are the major reason why I prefer anti-oxidant facial products over any other type of formulation.  This didn't deliver as dramatic a result as a traditional brightening serum would but it certainly help to make my skin looks clearer and healthier at this time of the year.  Maximum brightening benefits would be reached by using this product with a brightening serum at least once or twice a day.  I only use this product during the day since it contains the high SPF, there is no point in using this product at night.

This is one of the first (if not the first) Lancome skincare product that I have used, mostly I go to this brand for fragrance or color.  I was happy enough with my deluxe sample to buy the full sized product after a week of use and I am looking forward to trying the other skincare products in the Bienfiat line.  I am already thinking ahead to the summer months and I am betting that I will buy the lotion version from this line.

NARS Holiday 2012 Collection - NARS and Andy Warhol

At the very beginning of October, Sephora released the exclusive NARS and Andy Warhol color and gift collections.  I covered both of those collections right as they were released since I was so excited when I first read about them and wanted to see every single product as soon as it was released.  I am now seeing another version of this collection on the NARS website and on the Nordstrom website.  I originally received an email on this collection from NARS the other day and I actually deleted it without even opening it since I just thought it was NARS annoucing that the products were available on their website.  I initially noticed on the Nordstrom website that there were some products in this new collection that I had not seen on the Sephora website and that I show go back to the NARS website and relook at the whole collection.

Some of the products in this collection have already been released and some have not.  I have referred back to my original post about the color collection from Sephora and I will only note any different products in this post about the NARS collection.  It appears that the sets in this collection were never on the Sephora website and there are a few palettes that are just on the NARS website.  On the flip side, I do not see some of the products on here that I saw on the Sephora website so if you want to collect every single product in this collection then you will need to visit both websites.

I am not going to rehash all the details about this collection.  NARS uses the products and shades in this collection to pay tribute to the great 20th century artist Andy Warhol, best known for works on Marilyn Monroe and Debbie Harry.  All of the colors in this collection are bright and will draw lots of attention to the wearer.

Here is the NARS exclusive products in the NARS and Andy Warhol collection!

- Self Portrait 1 - black, bright periwinkle blue, vibrant green
- Self Portrait 2 - black, white, silver
- Self Portrait 3 - dark brown, rose pink, heather blue

My favorite piece of this part of the collection is the large set that I have pictured, the Silver Factory Set.  This very large set includes every type of shade that I would need to create dramatic smoky eyes to go out to all the upcoming holiday parties.  I have used many NARS eye shadow shades that help to create this type of look and I have loved pretty much every single one so far so I have very high hopes for this wonderful set.

I want two other items in this collection, both are sets (the eye palettes do nothing for me).  I love the Nail Polish set, I love that the bottles are small and all of these shades would be in my regular polish rotation.  The Edie set contains come great neutrals for me and I would use this set more in my professional life rather than for going out.

I was hoping for a bit more from the NARS exclusives but I do love three of the sets that are part of this collection and I will be doing some shopping soon...
