Clinique Butter Shine Lipstick

I bought one of the first Butter Shine Lipsticks several years ago when I was a senior in college. I used it a lot that year but then sort of forgot about it and just found the tube last winter. This is combination of great color and a soft lip balm. I was using it last winter since my lips were so chapped that I thought that they would crack off any minute. I consider this product to be less of a hydrating lipstick and more of a tinted lip balm. However, I might reconsider that position once I look at all the shades that it is available in, my tube is a medium rose color that isn't all that different from my lip shade.

The Clinique website gives the following product description, "The creamiest, richest, smoothest lip colour you can imagine. Our revolutionary gel formula delivers the shine of a gloss, the comfort of a lipstick. Drenches lips in moist, lush colour that glides on buttery-soft, feels luxuriously smooth." The coverage is considered sheer to moderate.

Here are the shades for you to choose from...

- Delovely - soft beige-y pearlized nude
- Adore U - sheer golden copper brown
- Rum Kiss - rich pearlized rum
- Pink-a-boo - sheer golden pink
- Pink Beach - muted neutral pink with a golden glow
- Perfect Plum - soft shimmering plum
- Berry Berry - soft muted berry with silver shimmer
- Baby Baby - sheer nude pink with a hint of shimmer
- Raspberry Rush - raspberry with hint of gold pearl
- Pink Goddess - rich pink with golden shimmer
- Chocolate Ice - sheer dark chocolate with icy shimmer
- Water Violet - soft heathered violet with shimmering pearl
- Apple Brandy - tawnied apple
- Pink Toffee - midtone tawnied berry
- Fresh Watermelon - hot juicy pink with a shimmer
- Cranberry Cream - a rich deep burgundy
- Ambrosia - rich peachy golden red orange
- Crushed Grape - a rich wearable plum

The shade that I bought is called First Love and is not longer available. The closest shade to it is the Fresh Watermelon, the bright pink. My favorite aspect of this lipstick is how well it hydrates my lips. I have also found that the sheer shades are great for a natural look and are very easy to wear. The other shades from this line that I would like to buy are Cranberry Cream, Pink Toffee, Baby Baby, Pink Beach, and Delovely.

This is fantastic lipstick to use during colder weather to hydrate and protect my lips and one that I hope gets some new shades in Clinique's upcoming fall collection...
