MAC and Iris Apfel

This is the second week in row that MAC has released new collections, this time around we have three new collections to choose from.  Two of the collections are full color collections and the other one is an introduction to the new line of Mineralize skincare that is coming out.  The first of the color collections in another collaboration, this time with another fashion and style icon, Iris Apfel.  I am loving these MAC collaborations and I am just hoping that MAC keeps creating collections with the style and zest that the past few have inspired.

Iris Apfel is a style icon and former owner of the textile firm, Old World Weavers.  After her and her husband retired from the running of the business, they made major contributions to many art museums and her sense of style inspired one of the greatest exhibits at the Metropolitian Museum of Art.  This exhibit has since been picked up by other major museums around the United States and then became a huge success at all the museums.

"Inspired by a rare bird who has always been ahead of her time, MAC presents a colour collection featuring Lipsticks, Beauty Powder, and Eye Shadows with as much flair and joie de vivre as the woman who helped create it...Iris Apfel."  This collection looks as though it will contain some major lip shades, especially a great series of reds.  And we all know that I love a red lippee more than any other type of beauty look...

Here is the Iris Apfel collection!

Eye Shadow - Highly pigmented powder.  Applies evenly, blends well.
- Silver Gull - blue gray with sparkle
- Early Bird - bright coral
- Robin's Egg - midtone teal
- How Zat - deep gray with silver sparkle
- Diamond Dove - deep gray brown

Opulash - Superlative style and state-of-the-art science merge.  A new formula in a more saturated intense black with extra-volumization, expansion, and curl delivered dramatically with our most bodacious brush yet.  Lasts 15 hours!
- Black - deep black

Eye Pencil - Eye Pencils are formulated to provide rich, consistent colour using ingredients that have virutally no irritancy potential.  They are comfortable to apply and sharpen to a fine point to allow for precise application.  Eye Pencils can be used to create a sharp line or a softer, smoky effect.  they are long lasting and won't cake or streak.
- Ebony - soft black

Impeccable Brow Pencil - A classic creamy, long wearing brow pencil with an easy-to-sharpen pencil.  Fills in, defines, and colours with precision.  Provides a natural matte finish.  Makes the brows look impeccable.
- Taupe - midtone dirty taupe

Lipstick - Colour plus texture for the lips.  Stands out on the runway.  Simmers on the street!  What made MAC famous.
- Flamingo - light milky bright coral
- Morange - loudmouth orange (Amplified Cream)
- Party Parrot - bright red pink
- Pink Pigeon - bright cleanest pink
- Scarlet Ibis - bright orange-red

Lip Pencil - A pencil designed for shaping, lining, or filling in the lip.  Lip Pencils have a smooth, creamy texture that is perfect for lining the lips or filling them in.  They are long lasting and available in a wide selection of colours that each work well with many different lipstick shades.
- Entertain Me - clearly orange
- Embrace Me - vivid pinkish fuchsia
- Redd - clearly red

Beauty Powder - A silky-soft "beauty" powder that's delicately tinted and luxuriously pearl.  Goes on as an ultra-fine shimmering "veil" to the skin.  Can be applied as a highlight, soft blush, or an overall finish.
- Too Chic - soft peachy cream with fine shimmer

Nail Lacquer - Revolutionary new high gloss formula.  Three long wearing finishes - Cream, Sheer, and Frosted.  Visibly different.  Provides no-streak/no-chip finish.  Contains conditioners and UV protection.  Go hi-lacquer!
- Sandpiper - creamy pale stone beige
- Oriele Orange - bright orange coral
- Toco Toucan - bright blue fuchsia

My favorite pieces of this collection are exactly what I thought that they would be!  Some of the lipstick shades are a bit too loud for me, I can't wear the oranges or the corals in this collection.  The reds are the best, with my favorite red being Scarlet Ibis.  The colored eye shadows are too much for me but How Zat is a great shade for a smoky eye.  This is more of a winter collection, I can't see myself pulling many of these shades off in the spring so I will only pick up the two products that I mentioned above and use them for the next month or two and then again in the fall.
