MAC Vera

As we talked about during my Most Wanted list for this month, MAC is releasing a huge group of collections over the next four weeks.  The big highlight for me is when the new Viva Glam shade comes out around Valentine's Day, that is the only reason that I am looking forward to that week!  The first of the group of collections came out this week, they first were up on the website on Monday morning so hopefully they will be at the counter well before Thursday.  The fist of the collections is the Vera collection, a collaboration with textile designer Vera Neumann.  This is another in the series of collections that are collaborations between MAC and various designers.  I have loved these collaborations so far, but I am just hoping that MAC doesn't overdo them and turn them into a series of bland collections...

Vera Neumann was a textile designer, starting during the Second World War.  She began working with parachute silk during this time of rationing and that became the basis for her famous scarves.  Neumann created the first signature scraf in history and they quickly took off.  Within the next few years, Marilyn Monroe, First Lady Bess Truman, and Grace Kelly were among her top fans.  Her siganture style included bright patterns, scraves signed with the name "Vera", and a signature ladybug was included on every piece.  Her designs have been featured in many art exhibits and have become cult icons of fashion.

"Flashy florals, butterfly brights, punchy patterns, and a light-as-air spirit fuse in a collection inspired by the art of textile designer, Vera Neumann.  For fashion fanatics everywhere.  Limited edition.", states the MAC website when descring this collaboration.  This collection contains eye and lip shades that are as bright and happy as the designer's scarves themselves.  This collection is a great spring release and contain shades that are perfect for the season and then well into the summer.

Here is the MAC and Vera Neumann collection...

I love the pinks that are in this collection!  This range of pink shades is what I have been looking for for the past few weeks and it just hasn't been happening with other companies.  My favorite piece of the collection is the Strawberry Patch: Crushed Metallic Pigment, this is one of the best range of pinks that I have seen in one place.  I must have this product and will be heading to the MAC counter this week to get it.  I am also so happy that the Plushglasses are in this collection, they are my favorite type of MAC Lipglass and I feel like they never get the attention that they deserve, they are more than just a lip gloss.  This formula contains a light plumper and they are wonderful at creating cushiony pillow lips without going overboard.  I want the pinks in this collection, I love the Pretty Plush and On a Holiday shades.  The Midsummer's Dream Nail Lacquer is very lovely however it is not unique and I bet that I already own a shade like it so I don't know that I really need it.

The last major piece that I want is the Vera Pearlmatte Powder in the pink shade.  Sunday Afternoon contains some great pink shades.  I hope that they are very pigmented so that I can use them all as blush shades.  This collection contains some of the best pinks that I have seen so far this season and might be one of my top favorites for the spring!
