Illamasqua Fall 2011 - Theatre of the Nameless

After a series of small teaser collections from Illamasqua, they have finally released their full fall and winter 2011 collection named the Theatre of the Nameless.  My initial thought at on this collection - How on earth could I ever pull one of these looks off?  Second - Why would I want to?  This collection has a vintage, burlesque feel and I love Illamasqua's makeup but I just don't see myself ever pulling any of the looks worn by the models off.  Hopefully some of the products themselves will be a bit more wearable when they are worn alone or with some less dramatic shades.  As always, we will look at each product individually and I will see how I could get them to work with what I am looking out for my fall style.

"Descend into the riotous scene of erotic adventure that is the Theatre of the Nameless collection.  In this nocturnal den of the dissident leaders of the underworld subcultures, exotic dancers rub shoulders with actors and anarchists.  Infused with the essence of self-expression that transformed 1920s Berlin, this rich and indulgent collection envelops the senses.  Darkly sophisticated tones are accompanied by shocks of dazzling iridescence and kinky rubber-looking finishes, creating a breathtakingly modern interpretation of the most illict nightlife in history.  It's time to cross the threshold and embrace a world of unadulterated decadence."

Well I guess we will just look at each product and see what I could make work for me since I can't do the look the model does...

Oh dear, I love Illamasqua but I just have little to no idea what to say about this collection.  The lip shades are just out there and nothing that I could ever see myself pulling off (dark green, really?!).  Belladonna is the only lip shade that I like, deep pink is the only shade that I could wear from this collection.  Looking at the picture of the model, it seems like the biggest players in this collection are the Cream Pigments and the Pure Pigments.  From the Pure Pigment shades, I really like the Zeitgeist shade, I would work this into a smoky eye look.  Beguile would also work quite well as a highlighter.  All the other pigments shades I will be skipping out on.  To round out what I would order from this collection, the Morale Powder Blusher is quite pretty and would work well with my skintone.  The only products that I really like from the collection are the Nail Varnish shades; Faux Pas and Vice are my favorite of these shades and I really want to see what the "rubber finish" looks like when applied to the nail.

I love Illamasqua but this collection is just too out there for me to ever pull off.  This collection and the Shu Uemura fall collections were just so out there that I couldn't make anything work for me and will probably skip over 90% of the products in them.
