NARS Thakoon for NARS Nail Polish Collection

This is one of the most anticipated collection of the entire season, I have been going on about this collection since I first saw pictures of it and it has been in almost every single major beauty magazine in the past two months.  I have been all over bright nail polishes all spring and I can't see this trend ending until the beginning of the fall season and this is one of the best polish collections so far this year.  NARS and Thakoon have teamed up to create a great range of limited edition hues for the summer.  In one of the articles about this collection (Allure I believe), I read that NARS and Thakoon often worked together during the New York Fashion Week and that this collaboration was a long time coming.  It is said this collection was created by designer Thakoon and he was inspired by an Indian spice market.

This collection consists of six new shades, all of which are limited edition, one pale and the rest are considered brights.  Five of the shades should be offered at all places that NARS is sold and the last shade will be offered only on the NARS website and at their flagshipo store in New York City.  Lal Mirchi is the shade that will be harder to find than the others, I can see it selling out very quickly on the NARS website.  Actually I can all of them selling out very quickly since these shades have been so hyped in the media.

I couldn't find a collection description on the NARS website so I pulled one from the Sephora website (product descriptions and details are from a combination of the NARS and the Sephora websites).  "A limited editon nail color in modern iconic shades inspired by Thakoon's Spring 2012 collection.  This season, NARS and Thakoon extend their Fashion Week collaboration with limited edition nail polishes inspired by the designer's Spring 2012 Collection.  Super vibrant, exuberant color channels the pulsating hues of an Indian spice market for a bold dose of fashion-forward color at your fingertips."  I was able to pull the actual product description from the NARS website and so I was able to get the color description for all the shades in the collection.

Here are the NARS and Thakoon shades!

Nail Polish - Fashion-forward and classic NARS Nail Polsih shades impart incredible luster and prolonged gloss retention with UV protection to prevent polish discoloration.  An advanced polymer system provides extended wear and a durable chip-resistant finish.  Modern, iconic shades.  Long-wearing, chip-resistant.  Toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP-free.
- Lal Mirchi - mandarin red (opaque cream)
- Anardana - azalea pink (opaque cream)
- Ratin Jot - orchid purple (opaque cream)
- Amchoor - bright yellow (opaque cream)
- Kutki - powder blue (opaque cream)
- Koliary - cyan blue (opaque cream)

The Allure article states that Kutki is the designer's favorite shade and I full agree since it is my favorite shade too.  This is the lightest shade, the powder blue could easily be considered a pale shade and is the easiest of the shades to wear.  I predict that this shade will sell out first.  My second favorite shade is the other blue in the collection, Koliary is a bright blue.  I have been buying blue shades all spring and I am not stopping any time soon.  The other two shades that I want are the bright pink (Anardana) and the orchid purple (Ratin Jot), I love both of these shades.  I will be skipping over the yellow shade since this is not a shade that will flatter my skintone and the same holds for the Lal Mirchi shade.  This red is too warm for me and has orange undertones instead of the blue reds that I prefer.

I am so in love with this collection and I am not the only one.  The NARS website is functioning really slowly, especially the part that offers this collection.  I can't wait to see what shades sell out first and I will be grabbing these shades the next time that I go to Sephora.  NARS has been my favorite brand for the past few weeks and this collection is serv ing to further my love!
